They could have perfectly climbed the Smeysberg, which should be 17% for about 200m according to the road sign, and way too steep to my liking.

Compared to the old circuit without Holstheide, including Smeysberg is going to be a downgrade. It's because you have to add some km's of big flat roads that are good for chasing attackers, which the original circuit doesn't have. But with Holstheide you have the same problem, so maybe it's possible to come up with a circuit that has Smeysberg that is better than the one they are using now with Holstheide.

I'm comparing with the old circuit because I assume they might go back to that when the roadworks are finished. At least, I think they're still working, but I haven't been there for a few months, but I don't know why they would keep Holstheide otherwise because imo it's a clear downgrade from the original circuit and they only changed it because they couldn't use the descend on Waversesteenweg after the Hertstraat anymore because they were working on that road.

But certainly Smeysberg is a nice climb. Must be the steepest thing in the area. I like to do it though.

Its a good route looking at last years finish it was nicely broken up near end before the attacks to try win went down.

Geschke could step up this year he looked pretty damn strong a few weeks ago.

Oh wow, I didn't actually know about that climb, changed my mind then. Would love to see a Smeysberg + Moskesstraat combo!

You might get some more big flat roads, but Smeysberg and Moskesstraat right after eachother should be plenty selective to make up for that.

Wow, that looks brutal, they should really add that! Also in the vicinity is the V Philipsstraat, 300 m at 10% on cobbles, but they have been so kind to put a cycling lane next to it. All more fun than Holstheide imo
