I said you can't expect Evans to work when the only thing he will get for that is ruining is own race. That's beyond the realm of stupidity. Had Evans gone to the front he would later have cracked big time and would not have managed to even stay with Urán. He was clearly suffering there.

Yes and there has been evidence of that before - I think it was the 2012 TdF where he had lost some time in the stages before and decided to attack on a mountain stage only to be brought back and then when the overall leaders went on the attack he got left behind.

I'd challenge any of these so-called 'experts' like The Hitch to find examples where Evans wheelsucked and was not struggling to stay on the wheel.

Spot on. I wonder if there is equivalent hate for the way Quintana rode today. The wheelsucking crap that has been attached to Evans for years has long been put to bed. Find someone else to hate, yes that is directed to you The Hitch!

Or don't hate anybody at all!
It honestly seem like a big vaste of energy to hate a guy simply because you don't like his riding-style.

---

Anyway; sorry to be a party-pooper, but I really hope the fact that we haven't heard anything about that horrible accident means that he's relatively okay.

By the way Luz Ardiden was ridden by Andy, Evans and Basso at an average speed of about 23kph - hardly 'very slowly'.

They did Luz like 5 minutes behind the record. It even got cyclocosm to do a piece about how it was encouraging

http://cyclocosm.com/2011/07/a-tale-of-two-luz-ardidens-2003-and-2011/

So, what did the numbers look like?

2003: 2011:
Climb Winner 0:34:56 Climb Winner 0:38:51
Climb 1st Group 0:35:40 Climb 1st Group 0:39:00
Winner VAM 1,687 Winner VAM 1,517
Group VAM 1,652 Group VAM 1,511
Winner W/Kg 6.13 Winner W/Kg 5.51
Group W/Kg 6.01 Group W/Kg 5.49

choose carefully your sources
2011:13,4 km@7,4%---37:26---average speed 21.48 km/h(Frank Schleck)
2003:13,4 km@7,4%---35:32---average speed 22.63 km/h(Lance Armstrong)

that's more like 2 minutes. and in 2011 they were standing looking at each other. not a single one went full gas. trofimov climbed faster than big mig( human version) and greg lemond.

2011 slow is a myth.

I'd challenge you to find where I said Evans wheelsucked.

WTF are you talking about?

The only rider I attacked for wheelsucking in this thread was Quintana.

But I'd say its telling that the second one brings up wheelsucking in a race in which Evans is taking part, the Evams fans automatically assume its their idol that's being slanted. :D

In the Clinic you accuse Evans' performances of being pathetic for his age yet you expect him to perform and waste energy like he is at the same level of the other guns?

I did not say word 1 about Evans. The only rider I attacked for wheelsucking in this thread was Quintana.

The comments I made on Evans where about him not being as strong as his fans claimed (proven today) and dismissing claims that he was toying with everyone in the 2011 Pyranees (when he was finishing in large groups with loads of riders at slow pace- hardly toying with everyone).

Forget the rubbish about Evans has done it many more times. Half the top gc guys were dopers pre-2011. He has every right to simply sit on their wheel. 2011, he definitely wasn't a wheel sucker. 2012 onwards, I think anyone in gc contention at the age of 35+ can do whatever they want, if you follow the views of everyone on this forum: i.e., 'evans too old, will wilt in third week'. so accusing him of wheelsucking from 2012 onwards means you're contradicting your own argument that evans is too old to win grand tours.(i.e. if he could win tours, he shouldn't be wheelsucking, but you claim he is too old)

But you are too coward to talk Evans doping in the clinic aren't you. Rely entirely on trying to get cheap shots passed the moderators in the pro section where you know it can't be discussed.

What you have for Plateau de beile. The heads of state were like 2 minutes slower than Contador / Pantaniapproximatefinish there as well no?

That was my response to your response when you said it wasn't justified for Evans to wheelsuck because that would become the norm and other riders would start wheelsucking and collecting the fruits from the honest's hard work. I said that you can't expect him to work.

around 3 minutes
vanendert 27th time ever
chouchou voeckler improving his 2004 time by 3 minutes or so:D
that was slowish but it wasn't because they were tired, i remember at the end andy schleck did a 40 km/h uphill sprint
