Evans has had a quiet season - just like old man Horner in 2013. Still not sure how Evans will go at the Giro. That may be a bridge too far. But I am more hopeful today than I was on Tuesday.

TDU, Haut Var, T-A, PV and Trentino- as opposed to Horner's T-A (probably some other warm up races) and Utah

The fact that Landa is pedaling like Rico and Pantani and toying in the mountains with the other riders is bad rather than good.

I wouldn't say it looked like Landa was "toying" with the other riders. Besides, Evans was only marking Pozzovivo. He didn't need to be concerned chasing Landa. Landa was 2.23 down on Evans at the start of the stage. Likewise Pozzovivo was mainly worried about Evans. The true strength of Landa was more evident in stage 3 where he lost 6 secs to Pozzo and 9 secs to Evans.

Please let us not create drama when there is none.:( Landa wasn't a threat to Evans and Pozzivivo and the talent level of the rest of the climbers isn't exactly of the highest order.

Landa's performance didn't surprise me in the slightest,he was a climbing prodigy when he was a teenager, when he signed for Euskaltel Speedy Gonzalez Galdeano told Procycling magazine that it wasnt Sicard they were pinning their hopes on but Landa,he said they were expecting big results from him within a year or two.

What happened to Landa in between isn't clear, the general chaos around Euskaltel wouldn't have helped but he also showed less than expected. Can any Basque forumites suggest reasons why he underachieved at that time? I am sure i read the reasons in another thread but can't remember.

Anyway, how he rode at Trentino isn't a shock is what i'm saying,he is a natural talent in the mountains.
