i think they are setting pace to ensure that no one attacks.

a defensive move.

But why not let people attack and have them spend energy riding in the wind and then reel them back in?

Makes sense. I need justification for BMC denying Weening the victory and giving it to Ulissi instead. :(

But he was planning to drop Kelderman here on the penultimate climb :(¨

:p

I really think you're underestimating Kelderman anyway. He was better than Aru in the only race they met eachother this season
Ofcourse Aru is more a natural climber, but he isn't miles better

Another chapter from the book "Garmin chasing down people God knows why"

It was in a climb pretty much exactly like this one that Hesjedal dropped Purito and took the time that won him the Giro

That said, it's unlikely to happen again

he better be miles better if this giro is going to be any fun for me
Honestly though, I like Kelderman, and I think he'll top 10 if he keeps healthy

hesjedal is already way back in GC, he might be given a go if he attacks early on the last climb.

Now looks like also Scarponi is pulling for Aru.

I should add that, considering how easy the final climb is, the only chance of excitement and gaps is keeping the pace high on this climb, so thanks Garmin

my theory for setting pace. secret pact between BMC and Lampre.

dont know who Garmin is trying for, Ryder? but i dont think he can win against ulissi.
