The great thing about Kwia being so far ahead is that, if the contenders have any balls, they will have to go all out on lanciano to try and drop him hard.
Him getting closer to Sagan on the latter's terrain doesn't automatically mean he's become more of a climber, I'd say the opposite... if he manages to hang on tomorrow, he's probably the best rider in the world right now.

Where did i say he has become a better climber? There is a reason why i say they need to go all out on Lanciano (a real mountain).

They need big time on Kwia to take the win, he already has a very nice lead over everyone and there still is an ITT so were are talking about the minute range of time they need to gain on him and they won't be making up that time on a short steep hill where very likely Kwia is as strong, if not stronger than them. And by they/them i mean Contador, Quintana and Porte.

I mean: it's unlikely he has last year's climbing form or better. Because then he has gained both explosiveness and endurance, making him superhuman ;)

ufffff... i would like to put the bet on the table for this comment :D This TA is getting interesting everyday. On one hand we got kwiat who got 27 seconds cushion with great form, on the other hand, we got contador, porte, quintana who has been in podium in GT or stage races. Expect the fireworks over the weekend!! Thanks to kwiat, I would say :p But stronger than them?.. we'll see.:)

Btw, Kwiat lost 10 seconds at Malhao and that's 9.6% from Contador. Won't this weekend be like something in excessive 20% gradient??

well imo, all will be decided tomorrow, 14km climb after 230km before, that will either be total masacre or everybody will be so tired that there will be no attacks at all. I am really looking forward to seing it.

I dont think he really improved his explosiveness, he was also very explosive last year, look at his Tour sprints. He has just improved his climbing and his level in general, which is why he also looks better on the short climbs.

Saxo Tinkoff master plan - Nico and Roman put the peloton under pressure and then Contador attacks.

Alberto has his sights on tomorrow’s stage
Alberto Contador is ready. Riis says it, Mauduit says it and Alberto himself says it. So on today’s 3rd stage of Tirreno-Adriatico it was all about protecting him before the mountainous uphill finish on stage 4

Sometimes, when nothing happens, it’s a good thing. On today’s 210 k stage of Tirreno-Adriatico from Cascina to Arezzo everything went smooth with the team effort going into protecting Alberto Contador before Saturday’s tough stage.

- Daniele Bennati tried to go for the stage win on the finishing hill, but if you’ve been focused on protecting your captain the entire stage, you don’t have the same power as when you’ve been saving energy for the finish. But Daniele was strong and, most importantly, he showed that he his ready for Milano - San Remo, says Sport Director Philippe Mauduit after the stage.

Alberto will go for the win
Saturday’s long 244 k stage to Selva Rotonda will bring out the contenders for the GC. If the team captains have ambitions to finish Tirreno-Adriatico with a top result, this is one of the stages, where the strongest really can create some gaps. Philippe Mauduit does not hide the fact that the team is expecting to see Alberto among the serious contenders for the stage win.

- He is good. He is looking really sharp and focused. So it’s pretty simple – tomorrow we will go for the stage win. We have a very strong team with riders like Roche and Kreuziger ready to put the peloton under severe pressure, and then Alberto has to finish it on the final part of the climb

And that would be the first thing something like that happened in cycling ;)

Also like Bushman mentioned, he was already very explosive last year so it wouldn't really surprise me tbh.

How can you say that he can follow Contador already when he was dropped on Malhao and he was 10-15 on the climbs in last year's Tour?

It was a reply to someone that said it wont be surprised if Kwiat wins tomorrow because it happened already in cycling.

So i asked, whos the guy that challenge Sagan on short explosive climbs and Contador on long mountain climbs, or something similar, in the past.

Didn't find out yet, still waiting .... maybe the guy was just trolling, idk.

Looked strong, but he ran out of gas at the very end. Not '11 form, but better than last year imo. Still its early days.

Thanks! Gradual improvement will do. Should peak for the Ardennes.

Kwiat really still in beastly form.

Thankfully will be able to watch tomorrow's stage.

Hope for some fireworks from the GC guys. Esp Bertie.
After the solid TTT performance he should have all the motivation to try and get T/A under his belt.

I thought it was more that he didn't quite have enough in him at the start of the attack (or wasn't able to attack with sufficient surprise) to open up a gap.
