Spontaneous in the sense that he didn't rely on his team to just tow him into the final ks and catapult himself to victory.

Froome wasn't here, we don't know what he would have done or not on the Lanciano. Although I'm pretty sure if he had done an attack like Contador did today we would have heard terms like "full ***" and "farce" instead of appreciating the greatness of the performance.

On the time trial although now that I've looked at the gaps, 25 seconds might be a bit too much for such a short distance.

Kreuziger is I think better TTer, so it's only very slim chance for Peraud.

Which is exactly what's happening in the clinic right now.

35km from the line of which about 20 were downhill? We'll see in the years to come.

That you even think Froome could match Contador's descent exposes your ignorance.

Froome gaining time downhill solo on race leaders chasing him and reeling in a breakaway ahead? I hope you're joking, because the alternative doesn't speak well for you.

Staring at a power meter might help you go fast uphill, but when it comes down to real cycling the cream rises to the top.

It's not Kreuziger he is going to beat (who probably will finish second next to Contador), it's Quintana. But taking 30 seconds on such a short distance is very hard. Too hard I'd say.

Contador will be trying this in TDF I think - long range attacks. Really looking forward to Catslunya, are the mountain stages promising?

The mountain finished are not really hard. La Molina is more a ''Valverde'' climb, group of favorites who will sprint for the stage win. The stage (and climb) to Valter 2000 is the same Dan Martin won last year. Some 14 k climb at 6%.

But with Alberto in the mix, every climb is damn hard;)

Tiago Machado 21st on the stage, 3 minutes down. Not bad I guess.

I expected more from him this Tirreno, especially because he was their team leader in absence of König.

Never expect anything from Machado. He may get into the top20 (I don't know where he stands right now) and then disappear. Don't forget that he already "dropped" Quintana this year so his season is made :D

Why the hostility?

Look how we went from "would never attack from so far out" to "would never gain time on race leaders solo on a downhill and reel in a breakaway ahead".

And the last time I saw Froome trying to match Contador in a descent it was Contador who crashed, with Froome being o his wheel.

Starting goin' on long attack well in your thirties is much too late to be considered a champion. Contadull is the one who discussed every true cycling fan with boring display of waiting till last 5k at 2008 Giro. Adding to that a total disconcern for the greatest classics that are the pinnacle of the season, a 50 day racing calendar that is just kidding everybody and those silly childish antics after wins, would you imagine Brik Schotte making such antics after his wins. Come on! Classless and decerebrated by 30 years of TV brainwashing! Contadull doesn't believe in cycling. For him it's a way to become a TV/Internet celebrity.

Hmm, ok thanks. It should be an interesting viewing, Sky and Tinkoff will want to get a psychological boost over each other

Just skimmed this. Seemed like rambling blabbery nonsense.

Please let it be like Vuelta 2012, 2. Edition. The epic duels between Berto and Purito are always entertainment at the highest level.

Yes, what we saw today was total anti-cycling...

All the great stage racers of today steer clear of Belgian kermesse racing, that's the way it is, and probably it's the way it should be in a less amphetamine-fueled era than the one you're so obsessed with.

This sums it up so well. Thank you.
