yep, a memorably and spectacular stage. One of the best in recent years.
Behind which stays the eternal sadness 'cause it hasn't been raced.

My gut feeling says a big coup from OPQS is coming up. Saint-Amand-Montrond all over again but with a lot more carnage of course.

Cancellara won't neutralize ;)

"I've already been asked if I'll ask for the stage to be neutralised if it rains but this is different. I know that it’s not a nice stage for Froome, Contador, Nibali and even our GC riders. But my reply is: so why not take out the climbs to make it easier for us? That never happens, so it's only right we race on the cobbles. It’s a risk for everyone, including me, but we've got to live with it and calculate the risks involved."

It definitely won't be neutralized. No snow, ice, or cold weather. Plenty of guys want to race this like Cance, Vanmarcke, Degenkolb, Kristoff, Van Avermaet, etc.

that was yesterday. When you look at today's pictures, if the cobble sectors are flooded, not wet or muddy, but plain flooded, I don't see how they can avoid some route change...

"Let's make it interesting, let's make it interesting, oh no it's too interesting, it's too interesting! Make it boring again!"

Make up your mind Prudhomme.

the flooded sectors will be called off, it is perfectly normal. Wet yes, muddy yes, windy yes, flooded no. Simple as that. Shame that the weather had to be that bad... A bit of wind and a bit of rain would have been perfect, but if a cobble sector looks like a swimming pool, not much we can do about it.

this.

flooded cobbles wont make the race interesting, we would just have to sit and watch riders carrying their bikes for a couplle of kms.

Bikes can't go through puddles? I'll have to remember that next time I'm about to do that myself, which in the UK is most days.

Too bad about the cancelled sectors, but I guess those 7 sectors with rain are better than the 9 initial ones without rain.
