So today was his 21st individual stage win in Qatar (+2 TTT wins and 4 GC wins).

Has any other active (or modern) rider had so many wins in a non-GT race?

Can´t remember I´ve seen Boonen so fit this early before, looks like we could get some good racing in the cobbles.

boonen has always been thus fit every year. except last year I can't remember a boonen not in terrific shape already in january

You sound like a Belgian newspaper. Boonen being good in Qatar is no news, Cancellara sucking at this point is more worrying.

Why? It's not like he was any impressive in 2013, 2011 or 2010.

Yeah, but not so bad... anyway, you're right that he is more of a peaking rider, whereas Boonen maintains more or less the same level from February onwards.

Hmmm...I'm not sure what Roelandts was waiting for, when Elmiger and Terpstra jumped he should've 100% been onto the wheel.

He just jumped onto van keirsbulck wheel. Maybe he didnt have the energy left or he gambled that schar would close the gap.

I remember a real windy stage in 2012 or 2013 wrecked the stage. Only about 5 riders left in his wheel.

Crosswind. sand and the Steppers, a combination made in heaven.

Hopefully Boom can beat the crap out of everybody in the TT.
I doubt he will take enough on Boonen and Terpstra to take the lead.

Yeah. If anything, OPQS have to watch Roelandts. He can do a mean ITT as well. Especially on the short distances

I think the top-5 after the ITT will consist of Terpstra, Roelandts, Boonen, Mørkøv and Boom.

I don't expect either of them to take (very) much on the others.

edit: GC atm

Boom isn't some kind of miracle TTist. In fact, on distances longer than 10 k Terpstra is probably his equal, if not better.

Can't see Boom taking the sort of time needed, he only took 4 seconds in a slightly longer TT in Eneco tour.
