And sometimes it's his downfall. Others know he's always keen on closing gaps, so they leave the work to him.

The one stage that looked guaranteed for the sprinters goes to the break. Clement was brilliant. Didn't waste too much energy playing cat and mouse, but knew he wouldn't win in a sprint... went all in on one perfect move.

I really thought when Serry and Howson attacked that it was it. And even when Sijmens and Voigt joined I am surprised that Serry did not pull.

Actually if you watch the final 9km Clement closed almost as many gaps as Voigt. He was covering almost anything except the final 3km, then Clement waited until he attacked at 1km to go.
