No. They are playing their cards correct given those at hand. Contadors most important pawn with him and two of the strongest up front.

Fail to the fact the team disappeared in a flash once the pace was upped. I'm not questioning their tactics.

Do the rules allow that?

I don't think so, he can't start a race until the Vuelta is over normally, but they've made an exception for Cavendish in the past, when he quit the Vuelta 3 days into it

So Uran down to 1 man. With 70KM to go. Not understanding this move on his part.

EDIT: Ah, ok 2 more appeared.

Only in rare cases tho. I doubt they will make an exception for Sagan. Although he probably isn't planning to go to Canada anyway.
sagan is a big star and contender, they would do it if he wants imo

They only do it if the rider abandons because of a crash/illness. The entire point of the rule is to prevent intentional pre-planned abandons in the middle of races to go to other races with favourable terrain.

To put the pressure on Contador. His team would want bonus seconds for the favorites to be at stake at the finish, IMO.

I'm currently moving into my new house and have missed all of this. What has happened thus far? Quick summary of the stage to date?

Unless I've missed something about Uran, he's not really a threat to Contador in the mountains.

Isn't the vuelta that gets to decide tho? I thought the organizer of the race the rider quit, gets to decide if said riders is allowed to start somewhere else. That is how it went with Cavendish at least. And the vuelta has no interest in letting Sagan start elsewhere.

Guess he has more courage than most and is willing to give it a go :).

Yep! Like I said initially, I don't understand the move from his part, but it makes things interesting for us watching at home :D

Catching the break will make KAT and MOV to work for the stage win, putting the pressure on the red jersey. I guess Uran's goal is to lose the least possible time, but that move would help eliminate some GC riders.
