I am not sure about Movistar. Quintana is not going to be a huge help to them on this course. Also I am not sure the rest of the team is that great, some good riders certainly but others I doubt will be much use.

You didn't see the TTT in the Giro this year?

That must be a very dark horse, Giant Shimano considers TTT as a day off. Their trackrecord is almost as good as Euskaltel's.

They never had a reason to race a TTT, this is the first time their aiming for a GC with Barguil. Team looks good for a TTT.

Luca Guercilena @l_guercilena
Smiling after a bad team crash during TTT warm up @lavuelta . 9on9onthe ground @BobJungels will better in afternoon

So the whole Trek-team hit the deck. I can't imagine there will be no victims during the race itself.

Does the Katusha team even have someone who can TT?

Chernetsky has a good ITT.

But it doesn't really matter, because with this team they finished 2nd in the Giro TT in 2012:

111 Joaquím Rodríguez Oliver (Spa)
112 Pavel Brutt (Rus)
113 Mikhail Ignatyev (Rus)
114 Alexander Kristoff (Nor)
115 Aliaksandr Kuchynski (Blr)
116 Alberto Losada Alguacil (Spa)
117 Daniel Moreno Fernandez (Spa)
118 Gatis Smukulis (Lat)
119 Angel Vicioso Arcos (Spa)

Not many TT'ers in that squad too.

You consider Quintana to be an asset on a short, technical course? Accelerating out of corners, just the thing he's famous for.

He's not as bad you suggest. he still will be one of the better guys in the team.

true, but he won't be the worst one - of the team (in contrary with chavito or julian)

Yeah, I think that is correct, but small climbers are not going to be much help either way. Power to accelerate out of corners and roundabouts is going to be crucial, also bike handling to go through the corners a little bit faster as well.

A good well drilled TTT team will still have a bit of an advantage as well over a less organised team. So teams that generally prepare well might do a bit better than expected. OGE might surprise because of that.

and small climbewrs don't have that?

chaves for one has all those abilities. unless he's not in good form he won't be a weak point at all in this kind of ttt

quintana is a very technical rider who can steer very well.just see his itt in klast years tour where he ronde one of the fatest 2nd splits. accelerating isn't his strong point but this you have absiolutely no idea about cycling if you think riders are accelarating full in ttt corners, unless they are idiots wanting to destroy their teammates. remember quintana in 2012 vuelta ttt he was very strong. same in this years giro ttt he was even the strongest.

nairo will own in this team time trial trust my words and movistar is super strong for this, valverde also. also this is not technical in my opinion, those 90 turns are done at 50 kmph if not more. yes there are two big corners and that's pretty much it.
movistar is perfect for this type of effort.
as always i would have prefered at least 30 km ttt but that's the way it goes...

Quintana 28th on the technical downhill section. Slower than Kreuziger, Mollema, Kwiatkowski, Péraud, Contador, Fuglsang, Ten Dam & Purito.

He was faster than Froome, Valverde, Tejay and Talansky.

So one of the slower riders in that part.

BMC is the most overrated team in TTT's, always one of the favorites, but no clue why...

Yes, in order not to destroy climbers like Quintana the real powerhouses can't accelerate out of corners ;)

there are bonus seconds right?

I wonder which sprinter will be closest to the leaders jersey after this.
