2014 Vuelta a Espana, Stage 5: Priego de Córdoba › Ronda (180km)

The peloton will face another lumpy stage. Although it is not as tough as the previous.

Is Bouhanni going to survive? Or are we going to witness a rematch between Degenkolb and Matthews?

I'm going with the breakaway on this one, but barely. Bling wants to hold that rojo for another few stages.

Climb is under 4% average, so I can't imagine many people dropping. Boring sprint stage, ugh

Cancellara will win from a break and announce he loves racing in hot weather.

Maybe Guardini can play if the pace is really low all day.

Bling also wants to show people that he's a sprinter who can fight with the big dogs. I think he's not content with only being able to win the really hilly days.

The german wins once (in a blue moon) and all of the sudden he's umbeatable. LOL!

No he is definitely beatable, I just think tomorrow suits him pretty well. If Bouhanni is still there I think he will be Degenkolbs biggest threat. If Giant rides hard enough I'm thinking they could either drop Bouhanni or at least take some sting out of his sprint. IMO Degenkolb is faster than Matthews....Matthews is stronger when it comes to climbing, but I don't think that tomorrow is steep enough in the final to turn the favor to Matthews. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Degenkolb takes it. :)
Edit: And we know we don't even need to compare Degenkolb to Sagan right now. :)

bouhanni will not be there. oge will hammer the pace for matthews. as sagan is not here to play, it's hard to see past jd. who else would be left.

love these vuelta course designs. they clearly read this forum.

matthews wants red, so a good even pace is what he wants to stop attacks and that doesn't mean dropping bouhanni as such who should be able dig in on an easier day.

I wouldn't be super confident of anything today but really don't see Orica letting anything go to far.

Bunch sprint coming up. Unless there are some hidden ramps, which I don't believe there are, that Cat.3 is little more than false flat...

Is Red an objective for him now? He'll need to get in a few breaks to try and grab a 10th place or something in the second or third weeks. It's possible, but he'll need to get a few points on stages that go to the breaks.

Edit: I thought Red was the points jersey :p Ignore this post.
