The Hitch said:Robert Gesink is one massive troll. Bigger than Ryo imo. He's at it again this thread, baiting the Dutchies into believing there is something to his career yet, flaming them with the flame of hope. We all know he's just waiting for Dekker_Tifosi or someone to respond to his trolling with some sort of positive hopeful post and then he'll hit "post reply" and lose 30 minutes on the next mountain stage.
Mods please step in and ban him. I admire some good trolling myself but this is just getting repetitive![]()

TANK91 said:Is their any stages that finish like 2% less steep this Vuelta. Any gradual climbs? Froome is a huge fighter he looked weak the whole time. He blew Quintana out the back on tempo. Contador was great also but isit just me or is this a weak climb for Froome. Look at Valverde he was great Purtio done well i think on longer climbs Froome will be ok.
No_Balls said:As i have written in the past i rank Quintana very high and he is far from being out of contention, but the hype needs to be put into perspective.
To write he was "a winner today" is absolutely ridiciulous if you a) actually expected him to drop and b) noted who won. Valverde. His teammate. Who looked like a monster today.
If there was another route i would have taken this lightly. But it wont be easy to fly away from Piti in this kind of form. And there are perhaps more stages in total that favors him over Nairo.
cineteq said:That what we needed to find out. Both still under the magnifier.
Angliru said:Couldn't it also be that Valverde is in peak form or closer to it and Quintana is still building his to peak in 2nd and 3rd week?
No_Balls said:Sure. Must admit i was pretty surprised he was dropped given his showdown in Burgos and when you considered it relatively to Froome/Contadors lack of preparation. If it where one of them i wouldnt be that surprised.
My point was not directed exactly against Nairo but to the absurd notion that he lost it deliberately in some sort of tactic between him and Piti. He may get better but that doesnt mean the other goes backwards (except perhaps Bala) and he can throw away a dozens of seconds here and there.
yep,I saw that too, otoh there were riders in front of him fro other teams.Angliru said:I agree. What many here are ignoring are Quintana's statements prior to the stage that this stage is coming too early for him to be a major factor at the end and the results reflect that. Also for the first quarter of the climb it appeared Quintana was riding for Valverde, in the wind, unprotected with Valverde on his wheel. Just an observation.
Yup, that's what he said yesterday. The main reason was the heat.Escarabajo said:I watched the final 5 kms couple of times yesterday and I noticed that Quintana suffered from dehydration. He was drinking from the bottles way too many times. More than normal. He looked too pale. To that we need to add that temperatures in Boyacá are not even close to what he is seeing right now. Boyacá is a rather cold place.
Last year we were putting blame on him loosing time in Ax3 to the early attack. But the heat also had something to do with that. He cracked that day in the final climb but limited his losses.
Just something to keep in mind.
