Valverde is going to win Contador in the TT.

I failed to understand .. how come? It's a hilly ITT 6%. If contador smoked valverde in even steeper gradient on stage 1, I don't see how contador can't beat valverde.

You think Valverde would be able to drop Contador today? Madness.

He did the right thing, wait for the line and take the stage win. Did not come out well, but can't really blame him.

No, he should have worked with Contador instead of sucking his wheel and then win the sprint for the stage. Very poor tactics by Movistar.

What?? Do you think he was able to drop Conta???

Dropping Contador wasn't necessary to win the stage.

But that's valverde, he got punished monday for doing something and now he's back to his old self. Wheelsucking and gaining nothing.

Maybe if he took the lead Contador might have dropped him and he could lose a few seconds but is this better?

Don't tell me Valverde thinks he's gonna own Contador in that ITT.

No , it-'s sure.

But he could be careful and follow others . Not stay everytime on AC 's wheel

They are pretty much on level terms as far as this type of TT goes so I wouldn't pick a favorite. Contador was crap in TA, Valverde destroyed the field in Andalucia prologue. It's still open. 12 sec are better than 14 for Valverde.

Can some one please recommend me any stream other than eurosports for tomorrow's stage.

The stupid commentators are more interested in making fun of basque names than actually telling what is happening in the race.

i was so p***ed off, I had to mute the audio.

so please. any language that at least tells the names of the riders, and gives some sound bytes when things are happening in the race, please.

usual complaining from people who want see return to the 90s mad attacks.

Pretty good stage I thought, good testing climb dropped a few, would like more cameras to show who was popping early on however.

Fina climb saw plenty action I liked it, finish was fine it was just 2km from the top nothing wrong with not having finish right at the top.

I think Valverde worried that if he attacks, Contador can counter and even win stage + add time. So he did the safe bet. But as you know safe bet doesn't mean victory. Typical valverde. Go for second or third.:D

Contador also wasn't super smart inside the last km. He rather should have went full gas instead of hiding in the bunch. I think he would have liked to follow Valverde but was caught in between the other riders...stupid way of loosing 2secs.

How is it not necessary to drop one to gain time on him?

A great comeback for a guy with a possibly career-ending injury. To get away solo on this climb is a feat in itself, but all we can read on this forum is how boring the stage was...

Yes Poels was strong, but the real GC battle was left out today. That's what really matters to most people - not that a fairly random dutch rider wins a stage because the 2 favourites let him do so.

Ah, there we have our big fan of Dutch riders again ;)

It's not about Poels being Dutch, although I think if he were some hip Colombian or American this forum would have rejoiced in unison. It's about the story behind this victory, which by the way was far from stolen as Poels was the only one who could follow when Contador and Valverde attacked. This stage is always a dud, and actually this was one of the better editions.

what would have made it interesting to you?

somebody setting clinic on fire and choking the forum to death?

We had a nice race in which OPQS totally owned the stage.

Part of the disappointment with this stage was that, at the halfway point, it was showing potential to become an epic race, what with Movistar sending guys up the road and the brief Costa/Conta/Valv attack. So we got our hopes a bit higher than they would normally have been. That made the later letdown more bitter.
