2014 Vuelta Stage 3: Cadiz - Arcos de la Frontera

Nice win by Matthews.
Moving in the direction of a bankable sprinter I think (in certain terrain).
Perhaps a bit disappointing by Degenkolb, but the heat took him out probably.

So why did Castro grab a musette with 20km to go? High speed, full peloton. Crazy idea.

I'm not sure anyone has figured out that whole deal, if someone has a link with an explanation that would be awesome. The cams didnt really seem to catch enough of the situation.

I know Bouhanni is in great form, but should he really be odds on for tomorrows stage? Looks tough

It's not just that Bouhanni is in great form (and has very little serious sprint competition here), as you've seen today, he's no Kittel when it comes to getting over lumps in the road and near the finish. Today is not a one off either, he's proven it before.

For example, stage 1 of the 2012 Vuelta a Burgos, with a top ten vaguely reminiscent of today's in its mix of riders:

1. ESP MORENO FERNANDEZ Daniel KAT 3h01'25"
2. COL HENAO MONTOYA Sergio Luis SKY

8. ITA PELLIZOTTI Franco AND 02"
9. COL CHAVES RUBIO Jhoan Esteban COL 02"

This man :D

He whines when riders complained about sectors in Arenberg (because he could benefit of it) and then goes all in for an entire stage because of the heat. Hey Canc, rain and cobbles can be quite bad for your health too.

He actually complained about the Arenberg stage afterwards too because it rained and he couldn't ride cobbles like he normally does. The man is a complete tool

I take everyone's point about Spartacus, but 37 degrees is rather taking the pish don't you think.

Yes, yes, I know it happens in other races too, but doesn't make it right.

Tomorrow it's going to be a couple of degrees hotter than it was today and hardly any wind. It's a good question as to when it gets too hot for a bike race - not just for the riders but also spectators
