Top three places in Southcott Cup finals
were 3:59+, 4:01+ and 4:02+
And that is without Jack Bobridge who
only rode the qualifying round.

Admittedly a long way from 3:50, but
with a pool of 12 or 13 potential riders
and a year and a half before Rio, I do
fancy their chances, my friends.

The Men's 4k pursuit with a sub 4:00 time and a surfeit of quality riders augurs well for fast times at international meets.

The highlight of the carnival for me was
young Brooke winning the U19 Women's
Sprint. Trained up in Rockie by her grandad
on a track named after her dad (who won
the first of his consecutive Commonwealth
Sprint titles when he was only 19) she had
to dispose of the reigning U19 World Sprint
Champ in the semis...and her semis and the
finals both needed three rides. Classic stuff.


And speaking of sprinters, good luck to Louise
Jones, 1990 Commonwealth Women's Sprint
Champ representing Wales, who is the Chief
Commissaire this weekend in Geelong for the
Cadel races.

For such a small town Rockhampton has a very strong track cycling community that has included Olympians and World Championship representatives. Many people are surprised to learn this.

so Hepburn said he was not gonna be back... hmmmm. if a gold is beckoning? I still dont think they can knock of the Brits, the Brits always have it dialed in. And Clancy and Burke can motor a start like none other.

Is Glenn OShea the starter? (42x16?) Edmonson? Will he go to the road? anyone?
