I don't expect fireworks after the carnage that we had today, but if it rains once again it could become a really hard race, many riders will feel the last 2 stages.

Re: 2015 Dauphiné, stage 7: Montmélian > Saint-G Mont Blanc

Nibali back to shrugging shoulders for this stage.

This stage has Dawg written all over it. But I'm hoping someone else will take it for the sake of excitement.

An early mega-break like yesterday is the only chance of a non-Froome win. And there has to be at least 15-20 guys in it or else they are doomed.

The best stage of the year I won't see. It falls in the most sacred 24 hours of the year.

Usually this would be a good stage for Froome, but he appears to be showing his mortality. :)
Tejay showed that he can stay with Froome while still riding within himself. He says he still feels good. Nibali says he will try to keep yellow. He and Astana are smart enough; they know how to mess up the sky machine. A breakaway is a good way to beat Froome, but right now I think some could even beat him without a breakaway.

Nah, I don't think so. Nibali has never beaten a post-2011 Froome on a MTF. I really can't see it happen. Only Contador can do that.

This mountain is a lot worse than the more gentle slopes of Pra-Loup and twice as long. It's more likely that Froome will take a minute on the rest than another rider will win it.

Froome is cycling's Superman. A well-oiled, almost overpowered machine with mega powers both on the flat and in the mountains.

Nibali is cycling's Batman. A crafty but human rider who is good at adapting to any given environment and terrain. But have to win in an unorthodox manner, not through strength.

This is a stage for Superman, not Batman.

You think Froomie is a well oiled machine right now? I agree that he is usually the best but right now he doesn't look like he is at the top of his game. We shall see.....

Has to be question marks about TJVG and Froome but they should both figure at the finish. It's been a hard race and riders like Nibali might just sit back especially after yesterday. Martin and Costa did better yesterday but hard to see them winning this. Yates has done well and will hope to hold on to his GC position.

I think Froome looked like he was at 100%. Like this guy:

Tejay was just even more impressive on that climb.

But Mont Blanc is not Pra-Loup. It's four times as hard. And the Valverde hill before Mount Blanc is going to kill some already tired legs.

Re: 2015 Dauphiné, stage 7: Montmélian > Saint-G Mont Blanc

I think any half decent break has a great chance, with so few of the GC guys teams being strong enough to chase it down. Rolland the fave for me.

in 2013 maybe. Things are a lot more even today among the best GT riders and they have been so for the last 1½ years

It's on ITV4 and has been all week

They are showing the Dauphinè and they didn't show the Giro??

They didn't have rights for the Giro, Sky sports had the highlights last year but like Romandie didn't show any highlights this season. ITV have Yorkshire, Dauphine, Tour and Britain live, plus Vuelta highlights.

Break:

Nathan Haas (Cannondale-Garmin), Alexis Vuillermoz (AG2R-La Mondiale), Pim Ligthart (Lotto-Soudal), Gorka Izagirre (Movistar), Tiago Machado (Katusha), Pieter Serry (Etix-Quick Step), Riccardo Zoidl (Trek), Chris Anker Sørensen (Tinkoff-Saxo), Jarlinson Pantano (IAM), Perrig Quémeneur (Europcar), Nicolas Edet (Cofidis), Kenny Elissonde (FDJ), Daniel Teklehaimanot (MTN), Björn Thurau (Bora).

14 teams represented. I don't see Astana chasing. Break could take it.

Interesting that Europcar is chasing despite having a rider in the break. Must be for Rolland but they're pretty weak and not sure they'll be able to do it.
