Teams will depend entirely on the speed of the 5th best rider. A couple of teams will probably accidentally cross the line with only 4 or 3 together and then wait for the last rider.Arnout said:That would actually be an interesting touch in another race where not only climbing counts in the other stages.

I can see Froome blowing up his own team there.18-Valve. (pithy) said:It's much more about who's (not) totally cooked at that point, 28 kms in.
Drama guaranteed.
which was null.Miburo said:You know ASO is putting a lot of their hope on the alpe stage thinking it'll have the same effect as 3 years ago.
Would be very nice if time is taken from the first rider crossing the line.Ferminal said:The TTT is actually the best stage of the race. My ideal crazy rules GT is based around a similar theme.

I have actually designed a HTT (hybrid TT, TTT with individual timing) in Palermo of 22km as stage 1 that first climbed Monte Pellegrino and ended on Pizzo Zella. Unfortunately it's impossible to get the correct altitude of the ascent of the first climb, so the profile looks very weird.Ferminal said:Yeh, more or less. Needs to be longer though and in absence of Zomegnan mountain stages needs a harder climb at the end of it. Plus smaller teams. That way you get crazy team strategy.

I'm telling you that the effect was null. Besides making Voeckler blow up, but he would have been crushed in the ITT anyway.Miburo said:So you're telling me the stage where Contador tried to go full *** in the tour of 2011 was null? He failed of course but wasn't it exciting?![]()

The total race distance will be 3350km, with Prudhomme confirming that daily time bonuses of 10-6-4 seconds will also return and be a factor in deciding the final podium.

Thanks god it's only in the first week. Makes Huy and Mur de Bretagne more important and should make it more likely for the yellow jersey to shift in the first week.PirazziAttacksVino said:I didn't know where to post this and I don't think it requires a new thread.
Considering that there is no long TT and the favourites will wait for the final kms of the climbs, the fact that there are bonus seconds at the top can make the climbs absolute borefests.
I was told the time bonuses were only for the first week, but that's certainly not what that quote suggests. Worrisome...PirazziAttacksVino said:I didn't know where to post this and I don't think it requires a new thread.

Maybe it's for the location of the points sprint that they want there?fauniera said:They need 30 km to cover the 3 km between La Chambre and St. Etienne de Cuines. Which means they will do an extra loop in the valley, maybe to Saint Jean de Maurienne and back. The stage would have been around 110 km long without that loop (followed by another 110 km stage), so maybe they felt the need to find a few km somewhere. Or Saint Jean de Maurienne wanted to be on television twice that day.

Having a late TTT is crazy.
Lack of ITT is crazy.
Too many muritos is crazy.
Some decent mountain finishes, but there I would like two real mountain stages with 200km or more.
This is the worst GT route I have ever seen.
