Haha check dem sour grapes. Your boy is done, Dumoulin is the future.

Well it's true. Dumoulin has surpassed Fabian. He's just better now.

On TTs? Sure, if they have a few hard days of mountains before them. Otherwise Fabian still smokes him.
As a rider? Way too different, and despite that, Fabian will probably end his career with more GC victories on prestigious 1 week races than Tom ever will.

I'm just talking about the TT in Utrecht.

Good ride by Anacona, no surprise but it's great to see him beating every gc-rider except Ion Izagirre, I think Ion will crack on the Rettenbachferner after the hard Giro, but with the long ITT he could be a contender.

Decent ride from G.,not as good as expected but he surely will go for a high place in the GC here.Still as he said small chances given that monstrous climb,Henao's the only one from Sky with real chances to win this race.

As expected, Dumoulin leaves everyone in the dust. Lets see what he can do on the MTF.

Get dropped hard, probably
Good chance. Rettenbachferner is normally way too hard for Dumoulin. If it was a climb like Crans Montana or Verbier he might have done reasonable. This is nothing for him. Just focus on winning both ITT's.

Actually a good sign that he is winning a short ITT now finally, and against decent field -Tony Martin. But Malori, Cancellara, Sagan (and normally kwiat) are normally world class on this type of distance.

I agree. Cancellara is a bit better technical in short itt's and can match the high speed.

If the prologue where a bit longer I'd give Dumoulin more chance. Now it's a bit hit or miss. In raw power in longer ITT's I no longer see Cancellara beating Dumoulin. Only T.Martin and Wiggins, but Wiggins 'retired'.

Rooting for a Dumo win in Utrecht, he can do it. He's proven to be good on the steep stuff, but I think even Crans Montana and Verbier are a bit too much for him because of the distance. He finished 14th last year on Verbier, but too much time down. For the longer climbs, he's clearly better on the less steep gradients, for instance Saas-Fee where he did amazing. But hey, it's like you said, the worst thing he can do is go on some climber transformation, be on the limbo, and still get mediocre up the mountains and worse against the clock. Hope he is not catched by the GC fever and fan obsession with mountains.

Nice one Tom. Didnt expect him to win a prologue like this.

I expect an even better Cancellara in Utrecht, but the longer distance of the TT in Utrecht favoura Dumoulin/Martin more then Cancellara. Normally Fabian is still better on a short TT like this. He was sick afterall, if we have to believe cyclists and their illnesses

100% agreed. He is part if the best TT riders atm and close Der Tony. Focus on the TT and see whatever you can do besides that TT

When I was watching live timing I saw there weren't good times at all in the period of time before and after Kwiatkowski. I'm not sure but maybe the wind slightly changed.

I knew something went wrong in the finale for Špilak, because he had very good splits and then lost more then 10sec in the last kilometer. Apparently he made a wrong turn and almost went in the wrong direction. If not for that mistake, he would have been in top30. Looks good for the final TT in Bern.

There was some uncertainty regarding Cancellara's condition (illness, recently coming back from injury) and still he was only beaten by two seconds by Dumoulin on a not very technical course. When both in top shape I think Cancellara can keep up with Dumoulin even though the course isn't too technical, on a technical course I would favour Cance.

by 2seconds he beat Cancellara who's just returned from injuries and had very few race days. How is that "leaving everyone in the dust"?

If he performs well on the Rettenbachferner he should be a contender, especially when you think about the final ITT.

to be honest I don't know if he's from that level. also I don't think he's too good on steep climbs. his itt should improve a lot though at movistar now. he's pretty big guy for colombian 181x66

And Cancellara is not good in short tt's?

Cancellara's level in longer it's has definitely regressed over the past couple of years, but he is still a specialist on shorter, technical tt's.

Btw Malori is pretty good in short tt's too, he is not a diesel like Martin.
