Mikel Landa has just said in TVE that he has ignored the team orders today, and that he has chosen "to take his own liberty".

Also when asked that why of his bad performances past days, he has answered "today is the first day they have let me enjoy riding my byclicle".

This is a guy who absolutely should not go to Sky then, if that's how he feels.

Nah,he's free to do what he wants in Giro. They might even not select him for the TDF and let him ride La Vuelta.

Bit of a childish attitude. He's paid to ride for the team not himself.

That is your oppinion, but in his head he thinks he had a Giro in his legs...which is probably true considering that he lost vasts amount of time pacing Aru up the Mortirolo and waiting for him in Sestriere.

He is a passionate guy inside- notice that he wiped tears in his eyes today before entering the finish.

Dumoulin will finish at the podium, by the looks of things.
Only the spot is uncertain.

No chance. There's no way he should be able to recover well enough with such tough consectuive mountain stages to come. Also, the longer he hangs around the top of the GC, the more he'll be taken as a serious threat and the others will actively look to drop him on the climbs.
Those who can challenge him for the podium spot need to gain 5 minutes before the itt.
And he beat them all on the hardest mountain stage. Tall order.

I think a similar thing will happen to him like with Thomas in the Tour. He'll hang for as long as possible but then will crack and lose big, big time. It's just too hard a race for a rider who has no experience of recovering fully between hard mountain stages day after day, in order to stay at the front of the race. And he certainly won't have much help from his team if he does start to struggle.

That was a seriously bad choice.

Not if he is given the leadership for the Giro/Vuelta it isn't. As he proved today and in May he's a top climber

I agree, he is Tinkoff material.

He has a bit of the Contador irreverent greatness mixed with Oleg's narcissism.

I think Sky learned from their lesson after the Froome/Wiggins saga tbh. Nieve and Boswell were allowed to do their thing today ... I don't think there would be a problem with Landa.

Presumably he's doing the Giro anyways ?

Re: 2015 Vuelta Stage 11: Andorra la Vella>Cortals d'Encamp

Well - this stage turned out to be great after all :)

Landa: a BEAST - well deserved victory & hope he gets the chance to fight back for the Overall Title
Aru: did what he was suppose to do- so great to see him doing his thing
Purito: did a super stage with Dani - what a monster job
Nairito- faded it as expected, still managed to limit his loses
Valverde - still going strong
Chavito- good to see him fighting for GC top spots
Dumoulin: I'm out of words to explain how on earth this guy manages to be with the best climbers still... (clinic matters)
Froome - despite the crash- I hinted he could crack since the stage wasn't suitable for him at all...

That's fair enough, but it's part of cycling. You don't get to become a team leader just by having one good tour. Certainly not at a team with two other very, very good GC riders. How would he like it next year at Sky if he's a favourite for the Giro and his super-domestique is up the road selfishly going for stage wins by himself?

Aru could have potentially gained another 30 seconds today if Landa would have waited to help pace him and given him extra bonus seconds on the line.

Re: 2015 Vuelta Stage 11: Andorra la Vella>Cortals d'Encamp

I don't think Dumoulin's chance against aru is very big. I don't think aru will loose much more than 2 minutes in the TT so he only needs to take about 1 and a half minute in 3 mtf's. Aru's biggest problem might be that the last mtf is extremely steep, which doesnt suit Aru but might suit Dumoulin (he was also really good in the other steep mtf's). However its still really unpredictable, especially the 3rd week is hard to call. I really have no idea how hard it will be.

Which reminds me, Roche was perhaps the unluckiest today: sent back to pace Froome, and lost his 3rd place in GC. I think he cracked independently, but he must be thinking "what if" for a couple of days.

Roche didn't wait, he was dropped, injured from his crash 2 days ago

Roche usually posts a blog on the irish independent after the stage so perhaps he'll say then but it didn't look to me like he was required to go back to Froome. Probably realised himself his legs were bad and went back to help and got dropped anyways.
