Good last few kilometers, especially good to see Nairito this good. Unfortunately the last stages are some medium mountain stages so he has to put time into the field now, tomorrow and obviously monday. He still have an outsider shot. Getting hyped for monday now!

Chaves good as well, hope he can keep it up. Movistar should take control tomorrow.
Yeah, let's hope Quintana attacks early on the climb tomorrow. That would spice things up.
Yes please!

Aru missed a strong Landa. Think about those two on the attack together.

Landa actually set him up for the attack... Didn't understand "missed" part?

If Tom can continue like this he's in with a chance. Hopeless time triallers like Rodriguez and Quintana have pretty much no chance. Too far back. A few seconds here and there isn't enough.

Aru remains the overwhelming favourite.

He is far from being an overwhelming favorite, maybe he thought that too and attacked too early, might come back to him in upcoming stages. Anyway, I think he'll loose time in the next two stages to Purito, Quintana, etc. As Dumoulin concerns, think he will loose big time, especially on monday. Can't see him on the podium, let alone win the whole thing!

Purito has got a chance. Apart from Aru and Dumoulin, no other rider will finish above him. And Tom will crack the next days.

Tomorrow, Astana shouldn't allow a break to take it.

It seems to come down to important bonus seconds.

Nah Katusha shouldn't allow the break to take it. Rodriguez will win the stage and pick up valuable bonus seconds.

This is the tour of Purito.

Aru went too early, but he had to go early if he wanted to gain some time on Tom. Aru should be able to gain some time on Purito in the ITT, but the next 2 days could be very interesting...

Nah. Landa would've stayed away in that situation.

Aru is probably just too weak as a real climber to be honest. He's more like Purito. That's probably why Purito never attacked from far out in 2012.

That said, Aru can still win this Vuelta and improve his major climbing skills.

But if he wants to win next years Giro against a full shape Landa he has to improve.

Nibali was worse as a rookie, tough. Aru improves steadily. Today may as well have been because of the weather. In that all my speculation was pure nonsense.

I think that Tommy will really suffer on the next 2 stages and if he's still in striking distance for the ITT he could be cooked and underperform, it's a 3rd week TT after all.
Aru also rode a good TT in Poland, he was 56 seconds faster than Henao and only 12 seconds slower than Ion Izagirre in a flat 25km ITT, he should be able to gain some time on Purito.

you must not have been watching wednesday...

Didn't the organizers make a mistake? They own some of the riders a couple of seconds.

Rodriguez crosses the line in 3:36
and Aru/Chaves in 3:37.

They have them in 3:38 and 3:39, respectively.

Think about if it comes down to those two seconds. I would complain if I were Astana and Katusha.

I did and I was actually amazed by all three.

Everything depends on the standing after the ITT. If Dumoulin is in front again, we might see an extremely interesing last week. I mean, who doesnt want to see a crazy quintana long range attack on stage 20 where he pulls back 3 minutes while dumoulin and Aru ware watching each other because Aru can't drop Tom, while Tom doesnt want to set the pace for aru. If that will happen, I would be happy :D
ps: although the ESP categorization was a joke, that was really scenic. And I think the last few kilometers were also very entertaining to watch
