Majka really looks awful on his bike.
Pretty unprofessional by both him and Purito to have such a poor position on the bike. It's all well and good sprinting to gain 10 seconds on a MTF, but perhaps would have been better to spend a bit more time training for TTs, so you don't lose 4 or 5 minutes on them :(
Majka is not a bad time trialist. 9th on the flat TdS route indicates that. Mind you, it's 2 months since his last time trial (in the Tour) - he lacks rythm
Don't agree. That time trial wasn't flat, it was mostly up or down. Aerodynamics weren't so important; his position is awful.
Well, if you start excluding all time trials that aren't pancake flat, then I don't think you have a point. 50% of all time trials are hilly in one way or another. btw great from Piti!!!!!!

Valverde will podium the timetrial today. maybe even better than Bodnar
He's an underrated time triallist. Always puts in a decent performance when he is suitably motivated. Probably because his normal riding position is so low, it doesn't take much effort to swith to his TT bike.
like in last years tour?
He did alright in it; nothing special. Anyway, it was a very hilly course so aerodynamics not so important. His amazing bike position counted for little.

and long straight roads.

Valverde's technique on the timetrial bike is second in the world after Cancellara.

He lost 4 and a half minutes to Martin and even 1:16 to Pinot. Thats a lot
edit: and this one is also hilly. I think you can compare the profile of these two TT's
