Damn I didn't watch today. Haimar was 2nd ??? A shame he did not win :(

Not a shame. Clearly he didn't want that win as badly as Roche, who gave it all more than Zubeldia. Very weak sprint.

After watching the end of today's stage if Aru wants to win the Vuelta he has to let other riders particularly Purito go so Tom has to chase, then he can really try a counter punch

Aru is following Astana's tactical brilliance we already saw at the Giro. He's been jumping to all attacks from Valverde. It looks like he can't trust Purito defending his 3rd place from Majka and Majka defending his 4th place from the Movistar duo who are sitting 3 minutes behind him on GC :D

Even in the sprint for the win, zubeldia manages to not do anything lol

Let's be honest; Roche is certainly a better sprinter and always was

Exactly, remember Roche was originally considered a sprint prospect, odd as that seems now. He's lost most of that speed in turning himself into a climber/GC rider, but he's still usually going to beat a climber or TTist in a sprint in the unusual situation where he ends up in a flat sprint against them.
