"The UCI road world championships have not been held outside of Europe since 2003 when they took place in Hamilton, Ontario in Canada."

Um ... if I am not wrong the World Championships THIS year were in Australia, which the last time I checked was outside of Europe.

Without straying off this subject too much, Richmond, Virginia, will announce on Tuesday its intention to submit a bid to host the 2015 world road cycling championships.
