The last lap begins for this game, in which the best scores and the game determining performances are to be expected.

But it is January, so we start the year's scoring unspectacularly. The top four scorers are riders who didn't perform too well in year one, so also featured in the update for the 2017-19 game.

BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley 165pts (6th in TDU GC and nat TT Champ) for Armchair Cyclist and Ruudz0r

Standings

Most changes are only by one place up or down, and the highest movement in the table is Mujjjt and Flo swapping 4th and 5th places. DJW tightens his grip on 3rd, and 2nd placed Alykaptan is nearer to 3rd than 1st. Ruudz0r and MC Mountain also have positive moves within the top ten, and Comodoro has the biggest forward jump, 3 places.

Freddy Ovett, after 2 blank years, finally breaks his duck for Just Some Guy, but 4 riders (APPELT Leo, DEGREVE Martijn, GADAY OROZCO Lucas Manuel and RAMOS SILVA Kleber) continue to embarrass their selectors with zero returns.

Year 3, Month 2 5th Feb to 4th March

By now most riders have their seasons underway, and we have had races to suit everyone, although not everyone is up to top form yet. This is the year that some major results should be expected.

Standings

In top-scoring this month, Alykaptan wipes out more than half of Armchair Cyclist's lead, and the gap between the top two and third place grows further. Scrool07 is the highest placed team to move up, and replaces Hugo Koblet in the top ten, and mention for the month's highest mover (3 places) goes to Togo

Thanks for the update, yellow jersey wearer. After reading last years update first, wondering about the low overall scores I didn't find my team in this month update - it was simply too high up the ranks.

Year 3, Month 3 5th March to 1st April

A lot of points scored this month, with one popular pick having an exceptional month to win most of them. Once a rider has won Paris Nice, or podiumed the Ronde, he can be said to have emerged

SOLER GIMENEZ Marc 498pts (Paris Nice win with 2 stage podiums, 5th in Catalunya, and 6th in GP Indurain) for 22 teams
HOFSTETTER Hugo 331 (2nd in Denain and Cholet, 3rd in Nokere Koerse and Tourangelle, 3 other 1.1 top tens) for Alykaptan
PEDERSEN Mads 255 (2nd in Ronde, 5th in Dwars) for 28 teams
ACKERMANN Pascal 166 (2nd in Dreidaagse, 3rd in Handzame) for Lukas CPH
SISR Frantisek 140 (Ronde van Drenthe win) for 0w1s
MOSCON Gianni 131 (8th in E3 Harelbeke, placing points in Strade Bianche, Ronde and Dwars) 32 teams
ROSON GARCIA Jaime 91pts Alykaptan, Leadbelly, Vladimir.
BOUDAT Thomas 91pts 20 teams
HOELGAARD Daniel 88 8
MARTINEZ POVEDA Daniel Felipe 86 14
GROSSSCHARTNER Felix 80 4
POLITT Nils 73 7
ROOSEN Timo 72 3

I'd have to check, but 2nd place in a monument and winning one of the most prestigious one week tours is probably the best one-month score in the short history of this game.

1 Alykaptan 1530 (Soler, Hofstedder, Pedersen, Moscon, Roson, Boudat)
2 Del1962 1310 (Soler, Pedersen, Moscon, Boudat, Hoelgaard, Grossschartner, Politt)

Standings

The pendulum swings back to the monthly winner (again), Alykaptan. Bernal's fall in Catalunya, and the speed of his return, will be important to the game, but some misfortune off-camera obviously affected Calmejeane in GP Indurain as well, costing Alykaptan a couple of dozen points. At the moment, Hugo Hofstedder's consistent month in 1.1s and 1.HCs is the difference between the top two.
Murrjt leapfrogs DJW to stand on the podium, Hugo leaps into the top ten and straight up to 6th while Togo makes a omore modest entry to the top 10, and just behind that Del1962 has the best rise (7 places) this month.

Standings
The scores are not as big as last month, but although former leader Armchair Cyclist was a very respectable 4th in the month, the current leader is even higher placed, second on the April scores, so the margin extends to nearly 500. Murrjt slightly increases his lead over 4th place, but drops yet farther behind the top two. Ruudz0r takes a 7 place jump, back into the top ten.

Standings
Murrjt makes up ground on the top two, but there is now considerable daylight between all of those positions. Flo and MCMountain each improve their standing in the top ten by one place, and Skidmark overtakes three.

Year 3 Month 8/9 7th August to 30th September (sorry for running 2 months together; I was rather busy with the Vuelta game at the beginning of Sept)

Give the riders this far into their careers 2 months and some big races, and you'll get some pretty big scores, for some teams at least.

MAS NICOLAU Enric 474 (2nd in Vuelta GC, with stage win and some other points) for Alykaptan

SCHACHMANN Maximilian 372 (4th in BinckBank tour, 3rd in Deutschland Tout, both with stage points, 3rd in Euro & 11th in World ITTs, World TTT win) for Leadbelly
ACKERMANN Pascal 325 (GP Formies and Brussels Classic wins) for Lukas CPH

Standings
The pendulum between the two leaders had been moving toward Alykaptan for some time: Mas's performance in the Vuelta made that quite decisive, and as top scorer this month, he has made that lead pretty much unassailable. Second this month, and in third place since April, Murrjt now has reason to look up at second, rather than nervously at those below him. Hugo Koblet and Flo both move up one within the top ten, and Skidmark and Hilltop Finisher each manage to move up by two spots.

Almost done for this edition, and Alykaptan can start sipping champagne from the team car.

Year 3 Month 10/11 1st October to 18th November (and therefore effectively to the end of the season, and the game) It didn't seem worth doing an end of October update if that left only a handful of November races to make a separate job out of. Though I don't think waiting for the end of Tour of Fuzhou really made much difference.

MOSCON Gianni 336 points (wins in Itallian TT championship and Tour of Guangxi) for 32 of the 37 teams
WALSCHEID Maximilian 204 (Munsterland Giro win and Guangxi stage points) for 6 teams
ACKERMANN Pascal 185 (5th in Munsterland and stage points in Guangxi) for Lukas CPH
GROSSSCHARTNER Felix 179 (2nd in Guangxi) 4 teams
VELASCO Simone 107 (10th in Gran Piemonte, 7th in Tour of Hainan) 3 teams
GUERREIRO Ruben Antonio Almeida 82 6
DENZ Nico 80 1
BERNAL GOMEZ Egan Arley 77 2
POLITT Nils 72 7

A tie for the final bragging rights:
1 Ludwigzgz 786 (Moscon, Walscheid, Guerreiro)
1 Flo 786 (Moscon, Walscheid, Velasco)
3 Scrooll07 762 (Moscon, Walscheid, Politt)

Final Standings I presume, but I'll check back at the end of the year

Ludwigzgz, Flo and Scrool all moved one place up within the top ten, Ludwigzgz being the highest placed of these, while Rote Laterne, Del1962 and Fool on the Hill each get to finish 2 places higher than had seemed likely.

The top three all finished like the GC podium on the Champs Elyssee, rolling in unimpressively mid table with no threat to each other's positions. Alykaptan had taken control late in the game, and the Vuelta put him beyond reach after a close battle earlier in the year, while I just had enough in reserve from my early lead to retain 2nd spot.

Unique picks of Calmejeane and Enric Mas make Alykaptan a very deserved winner, leaving the rest of us wondering how he found them three years ago: congratulations, and thanks to all competitors (if anyone is still following at this stage)

Full analysis of rider scores etc to follow on some cold wet December evening. Here's the spreadsheet at Dropbox if you don't want to wait.

I was too busy in non-internet life this year to do more than check in and write updates on the main game, but now that I have a bit of breathing room I'm enjoying tracking these games. Thanks so much for the work you do on this, AC, this game is a slow burn but a favourite of mine to come back to. If only I had taken, say, Marc Soler instead of Clement Chevrier... it's interesting to see how talent turns out, and remember how I assessed it and made those decisions. Also astonishing that Egan Bernal had accumulated zero career points three years ago :surprised:

Anyway, 13th is a respectable finish here, although I'm 12th in both of the currently running games so it's too bad I couldn't be one spot higher for maximum consistency!

The final round up: End of Year 3

Two teams had got Filippo Ganna at an early stage, so they pick up a 14 point bonus from Najar's San Juan disqualification: it even pushes Comodoro up one place.

So the final definitive standings (unless anyone can tell me of point changes for 2016 or 17 that happened after the end of those years) are:
1 Alykaptan 17160
2 Armchair_Cyclist 16273

Re:

Ludwigzgz said:
An excellent result.
I can only say that I am very satisfied

After you set the bar so high in the first edition, I'm surprised that you are satisfied with missing out on the podium :)

Just a quick reminder (not only to Ludwigzgz) that there is just under a week left to get teams in for the 2019-21 edition (deadline is the start of the Tour Down Under)
