Surprised everyone's gone with Contador Froome or vica versa 1-2.

1) Pinot
2) Contador
3) Porte

Contador to let Pinot go and only realise that Froome isn't his main rival in the Dauphine once it's too late
Basically a 2014 Courchevel scenario? I agree Pinot could be good with his performance in Tour de Suisse from last year in mind.
I don't think he'll make the same mistake, and his team should be stronger too. I think Pinot could win but I don't think it'll happen in the same way as Talansky in 2014. At least I hope not

:D TdS should be perfect for him to finally win a European stage race. Who will be in Suisse this year? Thomas and Costa as main competitors?

They even took Kreuziger out of TdS.

One is a three time in a row-record winner and the other finished 2nd last year, I don't get that emoji. Moreover, every year people say that about Tejay, undermining and dismissing his opponents who in some cases have shown more than he did, and every year he fails.

I dont think Contador will repeat 2014, but that said, Pinot won't need anywhere much as leeway as Talansky did

Re: 2016 Criterium du Dauphiné, 2.UWT, June 5-12

I don't see Froome or Contador winning. They will be on top for the Tour de France.

It will be for an outsider like Pinot or Porte...

Think Contador will win this, unless he's backed off a little after good early season form.

Froome will probably be similar to last years Dauphine, start a little below par but be quite strong towards the final stages, this time he will have more competition than Tejay though. A race fit Landa could be good for Sky here. Especially as he will be keen for a good result after the Giro setback.

Pinot to podium.

I know, but this is CDD. We should discuss it later in TDS (e.g. Rettenbachferner should not suit Costa).

Leeway sounds more like Reichenbach nowadays. :D

Pinot chose CDD over TDS because of the national championships right? Ofcourse if Thibaut can win, he won't mind to take it, but I doubt this race is that important for him. Just imagine the French press if he actually wins Dauphiné.

Very good point; he may be going for a stage (6?). Winning the whole thing would spark a "circus" as he calls it. Winning the French RR and/or ITT jersey would do the same tho. L'Equipe, the idiots on L'Equipe's forum, setting crazy expectations and blasting him the second he loses ten seconds. No win situation, so Tibopino might as well win it all. He's stronger in his head since last year. The "don't surrender" attitude and win at AdH was a defining moment.

Wouldn't be surprised if Landa outclimbs Froome

Landa pulling a Froome on Froome :D

Well you know, they went through Wiggo - now they can put Froome on the shelf. It's time for a fresh face.

They'll gift Froome this one despite Landa outclimbing him in every instance, then Landa will take over TDF duties from next year with Froome trying the Giro and being god awful. Froome will then go on and put weight on and finish in the top 10 of the Paris Roubaix and go on a long journey towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on track.

You really think beating Bardet/Coppel would cause the same stir as beating Contador/Froome?

I don't think L'Équipe would blast Pinot for losing 10 seconds.

On the contrary, they have every reason to hype him and sell more newspapers.

French newspapers will find a way to make it great and put any sort of pressure on Tibo. That would be the sad part of it. I sincerely think that he has improved a lot and could do a great CDD/TdF. Beating Froome and Quintana on the bike ? Probably not (eventhough Im waiting for Froome shape in the CDD) but Nibali just won the Giro while not being the strongest, so who knows ?
