so GvA at least 20s slower then Dennis? Have just Dennis become BMC's captain for GC?

With the TT and easier profile he always had a chance of being the captain imo.

I am not saying it's not a surprise. It just only probably means the last stage will be snoozefest until the last Muur.

If they race hard on the cobbled stages Dennis has no chance whatsoever to compete for the GC and GVA could still be in contention for the win despite a mediocre TT.

True.

Personally I could see them not racing aggressive and only letting GVA follow other teams when they decide to go hard.

aaaand that's exactly what I'm afraid of.

Good luck trying not to race hard when Sagan, Boonen, Terpstra, Martin, Wellens, Benoot, Stuyven and more are looking to gain time or win a stage........

Kittel the one trick pony.

Criticism of him is not that he's a one trick pony, it's that he's a very limited cyclist who lacks endurance+an engine. Doing good in a straight road, completely flat, short TT proves that even more

What the Jasha Sutterlin!

Expected much better from Tom Dumoulin. Tony Martin not to be found either, Cance retiring.. change of the guards.

In Dumoulin's case, this route wasn't really in his favour. Martin, on the other hand, should have liked the flatness, although he's never been especially good in shorter time trials. Anyway, both were top favourites along with Dennis, and only one of the three delivered.

How come Kiri missed his start-time?
Since there was one other rider to miss it and one just barely making it (with bike arriving on the ramp later), it could be that delay was caused by UCI pre-start checks of bikes. If they measure any discrepancy from the regulations, they will not release the bike for start until it is set up properly.

Strong performance by Dennis. Nice team performance by LottoNL-Jumbo with 3 riders in top6. Can they challenge BMC, Etixx and Movistar in the TTT...what do you think? It will be difficult in my opinion but they can place in the top5.

I'm disappointed with Van Baarle. I thought he was going to fight for GC after good showing during Tour of Britain, but even when he doesn't fight for anything he rarely finishes this low on ITT stages.

He was too late at the start podium, just like Kiryienka & Baska.
