Hepburn and Bewley both over 2.30 down at the first intermediate. Either they are pacing themselves muuuuuuch better than everyone else or yet again these antipodean alleged TT specialists show themselves to be over-hyped third tier contenders at this point.
bewley was never hyped. hepburn comes from the australian track circus which is a recipe for disaster for road pro's because they've been squeezed out at the track program age 16-22 en after that it's done. see cameron meyer and countless other examples as well.
Didn't Meyer win the TdS prologue some years ago?
so?

Ah, Cancellara is not gonna win this unless he goes absolutely crazy and gains 30 seconds in the last 5km

Everything is being saved to support Chavez in the next 2 weeks. Anyway Howson will do best for OGE in the TT - Nothing wrong with Rohan Dennis as a TTer.

I just answered your question ;)
Valverde's performances in long flat ITTs are unpredictable. The only point in his favour today is that he's still relatively fresh as the ITT comes before any big mountain stage. I'd be surprised if he finishes ahead of Nibali.

Alright. My memory of it was only vague. He's done nicely in other various time trials though

are you seriously suggesting cameron meyer had had anywhere near the career he was supposed to have?

"career he was supposed to have". Seriously??? Since when is being a great track talent a guarantee for a great road career?

Valverde's last great GT ITT was last year at the Vuelta. Nibali's was...uhm.. I guess in 2014?

Well, Nibali's last long ITT was in 2014. 19 sec slower than Dumoulin over 54 K and he wasn't going all out.
Proof?

He was certainly taking the corners easy and cautious, absolutely no reason to force anything, Le Tour was won and anyway it was impossible to beat Tony Martin.
Thanks for the heads-up.

ughh, never mind. if you had followed cycling for the past 10 years you would've known with what credentials and hype cameron meyer became a pro.
