The profile speaks for itself really. The toughest kilometer ever raced, full madness of 18% average!!! Hesjedal won it in 2014 from a break, Valverde went very early and blew himself, Froome did one of his most famous yo-yo's to finish first of the GC guys, 1" in front of Purito. Gaps were very small between the top guns, except for the aforementioned Valverde who lost half a minute.

Weather forecast says 35°C at the start in Villalpando. 3 bft wind from the southwest so the riders will enjoy a nice tail/crosswind for most of the stage.

i think froome has vuelta in the bag. Contador is pretty much done after loosing 1:20, now with injured body. As much as I like chavito, don't think he can withstand Froome. Even if Froome fades, Chavito has no record that he can hold his form on the 3rd week. Facing Nibali is one thing, but Froome is another planet altogether.

Valverde?

Just read this on the Vuelta site:

Misleading stage with a 95% flat route but, after Cistierna, we come across one of the slopes that has made the most impact in the entire history of the Vuelta: La Camperona, climbed for the first and only time in 2014. The route is difficult enough to make the favourite riders have to give it their all. Its purity, the suffering of the riders and the proximity of the fans all make the Camperona a special place. A truly spectacular stage that, with wind, could be a deciding one.

Truly disturbing.
