A double back then isn't as impressive as a double now. You've got to apply the era correction factor to compare things

Specialization aside, it's more to do with the fact that the Giro and Tour are farther apart now.

More news from the finish at the top of La Camperona, the wind has changed direction and the riders will have a headwind if it stays like this. Sounds like it is fairly changeable out there so it may be coming at them from a different angle by the time they hit the in a little over an hour.

With those gradients, wind direction will not be much important

For me, from an athletic perspective, it would be the highest achievement of any GC rider in history, since specialization is intrinsic to the sport, just like how you manage your shape during the year, the most important aspect of a rider (peaks).

However, it wouldn't have the drama of Pantani. On the other hand, all of Pantani's results are nullified at this point, since he was a fraud, and we are in 2016 - More specialization, even more care with shape, etc.

I like Froome and Thomas, but the rio drafting was embarassing to watch, don't think what I have seen today was comparable.

Im not sure you can get much of a headwind if yr going up a v steep slope because you will be shielded by the hill

I don't get Movistar. Working in a stage where the chance Valverde wins is not that big (Yates), and not working at all in stages where both Bala and Quintana have a big chance to finish it off.

Depressing stuff.

Quintana doesnt excel on super steep climbs, his forte is high mountains. Valverde didnt do well last time they were here in 2014. I expect froome and chaves to be best

Don't think you ever get much of a head wind while climbing at 24%

No, chaves at least will be with him. Its a v hard climb and Froome wont want to go too deep at this stage if he can avoid it. He will just grind up
