Chavez is showing how week was the field in giro.

Your analysis is based on a single stage where he lost 24" on the main contenders except Froome and Contador ?

Nibali, Majka, Kruijswijk (he was in a hell of a shape in this Giro) and Valverde are a weak field ? Not the best, might be the weakest of 2016 GT's, but still, finishing second is pretty awesome.

You forgot the only active rider who managed to be twice on the podium on both GTs rode in one year, in 2010, 3rd Giro 1st Vuelta and 2013, 1st Giro second Vuelta.

Then again Giro-Vuelta is a piece of cake compared to Giro-Tour or Tour-Vuelta
Despite that though only Contador has done it since the change in calendar. Admittedly not that many have tried, but the Aitornator could only manage 6th and 1st, and Tonkov couldn't succeed either.

But this whole argument actually was about a rider who rides the Vuelta after the Giro so Nibali's double attempts actually mean more for this discussion than any rider who rode two consecutive gt's.
