2018 Giro d'Italia, Stage 1: Jerusalem - Jerusalem ITT 9.7 K

Not fully surprised as Dumoulin is still great at the TT's and even though he does race for GC I still think of him more as a TT specialist in the way Indurain was a TT specialist that also won many GCs. I did Dennis had a great shot at winning this stage (which still wasn't wrong as he did have a great shot at it). It looks like Schachmann is the next up and coming top TT specialist.

Great outcome, it's bodes well for the rest of the race!

Hopefully Froome doesn't struggle too much in the upcoming days. He's lucky the first tough stage is on tuesday.

Great performance from Pozzo, Betancur and Yates!

Re: 2018 Giro d'Italia, Stage 1: Jerusalem - Jerusalem ITT 9

Beautiful ride from Dumo but means absolutely nothing in 3 week race. Just useless energy waste from team if they try to keep it even a bit.

Froome probably took zero risk after hitting the deck hard.

Betancour crazy :D Würtz Schmidt and Conti super 93ers  .

Simply an awesome job from Dumoulin.
Also positively surprised by Campenaerts. I was thinking he was a bit too ambitious thinking he could beat both Dennis and Dumoulin, but he proved he made another step forward this year and is really close to the absolute top of TT'ists. And this wasn't even the perfect parcours for him.

Good results for the rest of the Giro.
Too early to pull any sensible conclusions, but Dumoulin, Pozzo, Yates look the best. We'll see how much the crash affected Froome and if Aru and Lopez are slightly off the pace or it was just a matter of time trialing.

Looking at Froome's knee and the bandages under his skinsuit it definitely cost him. He recovered quite well in the second half. Pozzo and Betancur were better than expected. Pinot will be quite happy with that time probably.
