Peloton needs to push on now and make the sprinter teams give up on the stage. A stitch in time saves 9.
I can sense an agenda in this post.

Every single person posting either wants Chaves to get back, or not get back. If you didn't care, you'd have no reason to watch. What a daft post.

I just want an exciting race! :D

You'd have to wonder how the other teams have allowed the Chaves group back in having had 3 minutes on him at one stage. Daft.

Peloton never had 3 minutes on Chavez (I think it maxed at about 2 min 40 s). Those 3+ minute gaps were measured from a then-still-existing breakaway.

GPS is roughly as useful as a random number generator - can the host broadcaster not just do a proper time check on a notable point, they have cameras with both groups
It shouldn't be hard should it? The tunnels are probably messing up the GPS, should just remove the time gaps until they can verify its accuracy again.

ABSOLUTAMENTE!

Doesn't GPS basically measure how long it will take from group behind to reach the point where group ahead is at a moment - IF going on steady speed.

Thus everytime peloton hits an uphill, the gps is frantically deducting seconds and contra-effect on peloton getting to downhill...

I don't think it works like that. It takes the time gap from how long it takes the chasing group to reach the same point as the lead group. Problem is that the gap is taken from motos who are zooming up the road, then braking heavily at various points. And then occasional losses of signal from tunnels, or problem relaying data, just makes it a mess.

Im sure GPS measures distances based on gps position. when second group arrives at the same point as first group, the time difference is measured. It should be accurate no matter what the terrain, or speeds.
