Valverde once again gets destroyed in a real classic where they don't wait for the final hill.

He was the best of the big names afterall. Those other big names like gva who cant even handle some rain and cold.
Van Avermaet being so terrible in the rain is really interesting. It doesn't seem to make sense, but it is definitely true.

Maybe he should stop spending most of the winter in Alicante and stay at home instead!

Beating "big names" who aren't in form isn't very impressive. GVA also couldn't follow Van Marcke on the Muur van Geraardsbergen. It's quite obvious he's not as strong as last year.

Like I said, losing is losing and Valverde can only win big races by waiting for the final uphill sprint.

Great race. You have to wonder whether there's just a different mentality here than in LBL (looking at Valverde's fake attack I'd say it's probable). It's possible to beat the favorites if you don't just try to follow their wheels.

It is, LBL is no longer raced seriously. Take away its monument status and give it to Strade Bianche.

Lbl in these days is just too easy to control.

Needs more narrow roads.

Let's wait how LBL is with the new finish

What new finish?

War of attrition, teams completely blown out of the water, winner that looks like one of the 1950s legends, surprise top-3 and top-10. Enjoyed it. By the way: quite surprising that someone as thin as Bardet did so well in today's conditions. Great ride.

Benoot is a rider that deserved a victory like this the most. So many years without one despite being up there countless amount of times. Valverde is really strong, though he didn't do much work in groups he was in (same for Stybar, which is typical). Sagan did alright for his first race since January. Where did Kwiatkowski disappear? Gave up? GVA, Gilbert, Vanmarcke nowhere to be seen ...

Many riders you claim to be far superior got destroyed a lot worse today. This is an admirable effort from Valverde

Losing is losing.

Those other riders have at least won real races before.

I rate Valverde about as high as Cavendish.

Great argument.

Just stating facts however, Valverde can only win big races when he and everyone else waits for the final uphill sprint. He's a sprinter, like Cavendish, who doesn't get nearly as much love as Valverde. Double standards.

I love exciting racing, so I'm against cyclists like Valverde, Froome and Cavendish.

Rumor is that they're gonna ditch the Ans finish in 2019 and go back to Lieges city center

Quick Step isn't impressing. Last week only Yves Lampaert was part of the selection started by GVA. This week also Stybar was left behind and had to make the recovery seen in the beggining of the Eurosport transmission.

LOL.... Epic Interview by Benoot.
He just dropped "Because otherwise everyone is ***" live on Eurosport :)

Top 10 for Mühlberger is a really good result, that said I still don't understand what happened to Bora. I guess since Sagan was dropped by Stybar and Valverde he wouldn't have won anyway, but it's inexcusable to be out of contention for the win so early despite such a strong team.
It was a complete mess. Benoot looked the strongest but Sagan was strong enough to win the race IMO, especially with a strong team like Bora was today. The tactic was mindblowing. You could see pictures of the group with Sagan pulling in front several times with Oss and Burghardt in the middle of the group. You could even read several times in this thread that Sagan was working for Oss while obviously that wasn't the case. Why the hell was he so much time at the front again. It really looks like he is clueless what to do in certain situations. And so was the team today.

Congrats to Benoot who has been thereabouts in his whole career and you have to be strong if you make up 35 seconds alone in the space of 6km - MS must be laughing at Power's form - He was added to the team yesterday because of the logistics in getting Juul Jensen to the start of PN tomorrow - Anyway watching Power reminded me of when he was chasing Lopez in the mountains at the 2014 L'Avenir.
