When the time to evaluate the Giro comes, please remember how they have designed this. We finally get to a proper mountain and it's not being raced because the following days are harder.
Today is only to tell between GC riders and pretenders

Why don't we wait until the favourites actually reach the mountain before drawing conclusions

I mean, after the first 2 km the climb has 6 km at over 10%, even if you don't race it hard it could do some damage.
Let's see what happens.

I always wonder what brings a rider to attack on the 1st kilometer of a 9km climb

Getting a head start, different rythm, showing your face to the cameras?

Because the giro is a 3-week race, not a 9-day. Even if there is accumulated fatigue, the entertainment is missing.

Would you consider a good football match when they only attack the last 15 min?

I've expected the situation in the peloton to be similar to that in the breakaway, but they're taking it easier. They're fresher too.
