2021 Trentino European Championships 8-12 September

You still have to be the fastest of the field. Equally difficult whether it's 4 kms or 80. Just a different type of test.
Not necessarily - short TTs can have surprising winners more often than the proper length TTs. If the jersey is for the best Time Trialist in the EU/World then it should be won on the proper TT course - imho it has to be at least 1 hour effort. I have no problem with shorter (20-30 km) TTs during the stage races but when it is an actual Championships in this discipline, it deservers to be longer imho.

"Top riders such as the winner of the last two Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar, Tokyo 2020 time trial winner Primoz Roglic and talented Belgian Remco Evenepoel will have a chance to shake things off from distance. The elevation profile of the final circuit is not overly demanding, giving the edge – at least on cards – to strong all-rounders with a fast finish like three-time World Champion Peter Sagan, 2021 Ronde van Vlaanderen winner Kasper Asgreen, Slovenian Matej Mohoric, Norwegians Edvald Boasson-Hagen and Alexander Kristoff and Italians Sonny Colbrelli and Matteo Trentin.

Possible outsiders who could use the Povo climb as a springboard are Dutchman Bauke Mollena, Pole Rafal Majka, the French duo of Romain Bardet and Warren Barguil, 2013 World Champion Alberto Rui Costa, the Spanish duo of Mikel Landa and Luis Leon Sanchez and Belgian Philippe Gilbert.

On Thursday, September 9th, 2021, the time trial will pose a rematch of the Tokyo 2020 challenge. Olympic Champion Primoz Roglic, reigning World Champion Filippo Ganna and the two new-generation phenomena Tadej Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel, will be at the start of the 22,4 km time trial.

Frenchman Remì Cavagna, Dane Kasper Asgreen, Dutchman Jos Van Emden, Belgian Victor Campenaerts and the Swiss reigning European champion Stefan Kung cannot be underestimated."

Seems even Roglic is going???? Slovenes probably to crush the competion.

No, Roglič isn't going. Unless there was a last minute change, but I doubt it.

When you realize people from your home town are actually national champions and you didn't even know it as you're not from a cycling nation what so ever.
Given his comments about how he liked those Vuelta stages that ran along the coast because he could see people out enjoying themselves at the beach, I think I have a guess where he might be spending that weekend ;):)
Vamos a la playa ;)

But I still wonder why on earth they would say so on their official homepage. He should have known before that he was going to win the vuelta and that he wouldn't have time to go to Trentino too :D

Now PSC has Roglič on the start list as well. Oh how they are all playing games with me. (Still no official start list.)

PCS is weird in that regard. Just as strict as they are about not adding a rider for the roster for the upcoming years of a team before there has been official confirmation, just as loose they are about adding riders to (provisional) startlists.

They are not always great at adding riders after the official announcements either.

FirstCycling seems to be more reliable when it comes to startlists, and they have had Roglič on there for at least the last few days, though they do list the full squads and not just the riders who will actually be doing the race.

When Ulissi saw it's only 179 kms long.
