Well, this looks to be too early, but he probably has to attack early and ride offensively to have a chance of a result.

Seems smart to me, if you're not Italy, to have the likes of Trentin flogging himself already.

Argument is you could do the same thing with lesser riders. Like the Dutch have Eenkhorn there instead of a top guy. If Belgium had Teuns and Denmark had Honore and Schmidt, Italy would still chase but you save your weapons.

Making the race hard and making Italy work, is smart. Sending your top riders up the road with 170k to go, is not so smart.

Asgreen has been riding at the front a bit but Cort has been saving himself it seems. Outside of responding to the original attack, it doesn't look like he's done much since the 3 were caught.

There is always the possibility that Italy would have gotten a rider into the break also. Just didnt happen this time.
