I thought Biniam had gone much too early there. He did very well to hold his power. You could really see the exact instant when VDP’s last watt ran out.

First sprint this Giro that was tailwind, not headwind. For once it was an advantage to go early

No, Van der poel sat up. And it was in descent with minimal effort.

It didn’t look like minimum effort on Biniam’s face when he was leading the chase.

VdP could've beaten him if he didn't spent that much energy.

Girmay can win almost every hilly classic and stage if he has a really good team around him. I think he's the fastest flat sprinter of the guys who can survive hard races.

I honestly think he has a better chance this year than any other year because some people are still going to sleep on him. Noone is going to look at him. He just needs to survive, noone is faster than him is surviving that parcours. He needs incredibly strong legs that days and also a lot of luck but it's definitely not impossible. I'm not remco'ing him, I usually don't even like his type of rider, but he's just really really good.

I think so. Mauro Schmid was born in Dec99. Can't be anybody before that.

I agree; just chronically don't like the pressure put on some of these young studs to sell out completely at their first win. You're also correct about the World's but it is also a lottery in so many ways that requires much teamwork. I don't see Wanty's squad (if they perform like a trade unit) or his National team if there is actually any support being able to provide help. That said; he seems equipped like other really good riders with the skill to use the race flow and make good choices. Wanty's preparation probably has much to do with that mindset. Good luck to him and also Congratulations to his Country! Great Day for them.
