How is Carapaz managing to gain on a descent when Bilbao and Nibali are behind?

Carapaz is alone going full gas.

The others not gonna do that with everyone else on the wheel.

And the descents have had a lot of twists and turns. Small roads. It is only better for a lone rider, than a group.

Come
I cant see why there is so much hype about Almeida

While a top TTer and all rounder , he is not a pure climber nor a descender
hes young and does have real potential. He kind of shut up the REMCO! GC hype for a few months last year, so that earned him some good karma in my book.

The overhype probably comes from the Portuguese fans who haven’t had a legit GC contender in like 40 years unless you count Acevedo back with ONCE. Every country’s fans do it whenever they have a promising talent obviously, especially ones who have been through a GC drought.

Err, Rui Costa was a legit GC contender. So long as the race was in Switzerland.
