I also get the impression that Hindley is a Basso style diesel who lacks the acceleration to drop his opponents and needs to grind them down on really steep slopes.
Covi showed panache and deserved to win and Kämna was outstanding once Hindley caught him, his pull totally wrecked Carapaz.
Hindley can actually sprint, no way he has zero acceleration.

There was a moment when Hindley had a devil and an angel perched on his shoulders.

The little devil on his left shoulder whispered in his ear

"It's okay Jai. No need to do anything. You'll win this Giro in the time trial tomorrow. Forget about 2 years ago"

The angel meanwhile, refused to whisper. He reached in his back pocket, took at a gigantic megaphone - Jai had no idea how it fit in there - and the angel just screamed the undying words:

FEDAIAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Jai Hindley
It is clear to me the best rider has won the Giro

All those giving Landa a hard time please remember he did fight he just didnt have the legs . Nibali also did his best and at 37 4th place is very very good

Funny thing was earlier I was asking less high mountain stages and more rolling stages in a GT but high mountain have done for Carapaz who i dont believe is sick as otherwise Shivakov would not have put the hammer down
He is just not a high long mountain type of guy imo

Now will they/you start to take Hindley more, much more, seriously? It's not easy to build a reputation from two cursed Giri.

This is probably the only time I'm dissapointed by Landa's way of racing.
Maybe he didn't feel great, but with him being like 4min ahead of Nibali and Bilbao he should have gone yolo on the Pordoi, or at least send Bilbao on the attack.

Carapaz just reached above his limit and cracked completely. Can happen if you run into a better climber, especially on a super hard climb like Fedaia.

Bora might also have thought Carapaz had more fatigue resistance and Hindley was more benefited by getting the purest, dumbest W/kg fest possible.

He'll probably have another 18 months of crashes, injuries, illness and saddle sores but bookmark him for this race in 2024
