The Vuelta is paying a visit to Breda. That obviously should draw attention to one of Velázquez finest works: 'The surrender of Breda'. Depicting the aftermath of the siege of Breda in 1625, during the Eighty Years War. The victory of the Spanish forces was not permanent though (otherwise the city would now probably be part of Belgium), as the city was recaptured by Dutch republican forces in 1637.

If only they were riding this stage in reverse, so the big climb would end just 21 km from the line.

Actually, if Tuenissen finishes outside the top 25, the jersey goes to Wout van Aert.
That has me wondering—anyone know what the longest stage thread (in # of posts not pages, since the latter used to vary) might be? Or top 5? Stages with dramatic, surprising, controversial endings—something like Pogacar’s TT win on PdB—probably generate a lot of posts after the finish. But to get truly huge I would think it had to be a stage where dramatic, surprising things happen early on? Something like Formigal or L’Aquila. Of course, Tour stages generally have a bigger audience.
