Well, I reckon FDJ will "honour the jersey" and keep the break in check. Roglic will say thank you and take bonus seconds at the end. Rinse and repeat for the rest of the week and no one will do anything because "It's a three week race, gotta balance your efforts, yadda yadda". Then, after next weeks ITT, Roglic will be ahead by 2-3 minutes and everyone will suddenly wake up from hibernation and wonder how could this have happened. But given that this isn't the Giro with ridiculous backload, people will come to the conclusion that they have to settle for second and third and chase each other down endlessly.

Yes, I'm a pessimistic doomer, Roglic might still not feel 100% so I guess there is hope.

Honestly it sounds like an accurate description if one isn't into Roglstomp :D But I believe Remco should take time on the ITT though.

Loved the Wright interview!

Listening to the Fred Wright interview I don't think he was actually too disappointed about not getting red. Just gutted that he didn't win the stage. And that is consistent with the way that he rode. The stage win for him was a much bigger carrot than wearing red for a day.

He actually asked the interviewer who ended up getting the leaders jersey.....which i definitely don't believe that he didn't already know the answer to.

Yes, Remco is the big X factor because he should be about the same level as Roglic in the ITT unlike all the other guys. But I'm already worried that QS are doing this Vuelta super conservative in order to keep energy for the last week. This stage was perfect for him to gain time.

the point is he hasn't won a stage, and hasn't won a race since 2018. It's negative riding.
Even just following the wheel of Wright the last 15 km he wasnt able to pass Wright in the sprint. What does that tell you?
It should tell you that he didn’t have the required level to actually fight for the win. He did however have the level to take the red jersey. And therefore he rode for that. Makes completely sense.

If Molard had beaten Wright in the sprint there would be a point in the criticism against Molard. But the way it turned out (and come on, everyone would know beforehand that Molard would have zero chance in a small group finish like this) it was obvious that he never stood a chance.

Maybe you can get him to read you some bedtime stories.

Guess what JV have in their bottles (wrong answers only)

I don‘t want what Nairo had.

For Remco in this race, I think it was too early, and there was not enough to be gained. Tempting, but I think the right call to wait. Especially with someone fairly impulsive (and I think that's a good thing) like Remco, good for him to exercise some patience and make sure he finishes the race strongly, wherever he ends up in the final GC.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't have loved to see him go for it, but I think the call to wait was the right one.
