2022 Vuelta CQ Game

Nice job DJW
Not that impressive really. Using 8 riders to score 1900 points, I used only one to get to 1300 . No but seriously congrats on an impressive win DJW. Thanks Armchair Cyclist for hosting the game and all the number crunching around it.

In the classics (Girmay) and the Vuelta (Evenepoel), I've had two unique picks perform exceedingly well in those shorter CQ games. It's a shame the rest of my picks were comically bad.

Four Season challenge
A little bonus competition for those that take part in all 4 of my short games (3 GTs and the Spring Classics), and a change in leadership during the Vuelta brings the victory to the silent board member who is usually the first to submit a team every time, Comodoro. He was modestly placed in all 4 events, but consistent enough to win. Blues in the Bottle had the lead going into the Vuelta, but not only had many non-starters in his numerous attempts at finalising a team, but also 4 non-finishers, including Yates, depriving much chance of defending the lead.

for 2436: DJW scored 81% of this: winning scores are often not mush more that 65%, so this is very good. All of them were picked, but only MAL was on more than 5 teams.

The winning team

Arensman and Kelderman were not among DJW's initial picks, but were brought in in place of Haig and Padun when it was pointed out that Haig wasn't taking part. Diaz never was his selection, but was the default replacement when Penalver tested positive for Covid at the 11th hour. But he had no need to rely on points from his cheaper picks in the end.

Any other data you wish to find is in the spreadsheet.

I'll see you all at the turn of the year for the next 3-year Emerging Riders instalment, and, if all goes to plan, a new CQ game too (very observant readers of another thread a couple of months ago might have spotted a clue).
