It looks like Poland were very unlucky with the team numbers calculation. They fell outside the top 30 world rankings for just one week this year. It just happened to be week 24 which was two days before the qualification date of 20 June. And because of that, they have a one-man team instead of a four-man team.

It looks like Poland were very unlucky with the team numbers calculation. They fell outside the top 30 world rankings for just one week this year. It just happened to be week 24 which was two days before the qualification date of 20 June. And because of that, they have a one-man team instead of a four-man team.

That is crazy stupid sh*t. So frustrating the IOC (or whomever) does that to road cycling. It’s not like swimming or T&F, where more athletes qualifying for an event necessitates more preliminary heats. For the road event, they don’t have to add extra races or more road if they allow more riders to participate (up to a full sized pro peloton). Such a bias against road cycling
