2025 Vuelta CQ game

Page 4 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
And now the CQ points allocation for stage 11 has been changed again, taking out all the stage points but reassigning Vingegaard his red jersey points. They have gone through four different options now, really don't understand what they're doing.
I think that that is probably what I would have done: there was no official result in terms of placings, but there was a race leader. I'll wait, as I said, until Monday and add them in then if CQ has stabilised its position.

It is what I would have done had there been no precedent, but it makes no sense to do it like this when Bernal still has 80 points in 2019 for his stage 'win' on Iséran.

While the decision of the jury was the same (or equivalent) both times, Tissot has registered the two stages differently. The published result sheet has a stage order in 2019, and the one two days ago has all riders in the same position on the stage. But there's nothing from the jury to say that one is different from the other.

I agree it is inconsistent.
We don't know how much feedback he/they (I sort of assume CQ is a one guy in his back room operation) got for allocating stage points in 2019 when there was no official stage result (for green jersey/UCI pts), so him changing his approach wouldn't surprise me.
Or maybe Tissot determines his choices, as his will determine mine. We'll see.

Strange presentation at the moment though: no stage winner is interpreted as "put the guy who crossed the line 1st as having come second", with the result that Archie Ryan is recorded as coming 165th in a race with 164 starters.

Green points

This is probably the most picks we have had in a stage top ten for quite a while

That Almeida/Vingegaard combination was bound to come off eventually for TRiley. Maglia Nera has a rare four scorers with 3 of the top 4 (Vingegaard, Hindley, Kuss, Riccitello): I also had 3 of the four but without a 4th man. Peixotini is the other Almeida owner..

Some big jumps in placement, but none at the top. Evans slightly extends his lead, but it is still less than the points for a second place.

Two of the popular picks scoring big points today (Vingegaard is now 2nd in both minor jersey standings), but the salad days look to be over for those that picked Traeen

This will make the points total look a lot better for most of us, even if not our place on the table. Collective Wisdom is top scorer on the day, so maybe we can all* claim a victory.

*: apart from the two teams that have none of those more popular riders

Standings
Kazistuta stood up to the decline of Traeen's days of glory better than other teams that picked him, but not well enough to hold the lead, as the rookie regains top spot.

Tomorrow is likely to be about those fairly random mid budget picks that we all (I assume) end up with on the basis that "they might get in a break". If the red points move much more than the green ones do, it will probably mean that someone has had a catastrophe.

Enjoy your rest day.

Rest Day 2
I managed to spill tea over my laptop this morning (not for the first time), so I'm doing this on the less than ideal combination of the google sheets version of the spreadsheet and my cheap work chromebook. So if I get fed up of either, you might never see these words.

Who is getting us the points?

Green points

Red points

I have applied what seems to be CQ's settled position for stage 11: red jersey bonus to Vingegaard, no stage placing points. Doesn't make a lot of difference: all teams in the top 25 are 18 points farther ahead of all teams in the bottom eight. But there was already about 140 points between those groups.

VINGEGAARD HANSEN Jonas99725All who have him are above all without

Deducting the stage points that they won (which are not dependent on finishing the race) so that eg Castrillo has a net cost of 472, the damage to each team is:
