Those who take the game seriously will spend the intervening time scowling at any of their riders that are in Paris-Nice or Tirreno-Adriatico for daring to use up their energy in events that don't get them any points.

Exactly! Like... Jasper, WTH are you doing? You left Trek so you could ride your own chance in the classics.

Also, I only just noticed @EvansIsTheBest's team... and people say I pick weird teams. At least my riders are all alive!

That’s my two most expensive riders both finishing the game at 0 points courtesy of injury. Don’t think I’ve ever been this unlucky in one of these games.

At least my team isn't getting beat by a bunch of dead Italians ;)

Is it the dead Italians who are beating my team, or is it the living Dutchman?

I deliberately chose to not have too much variation in price between my riders since my theme is one for each month of the year, and "was born in a month" doesn't exactly narrow it down.

Standings

Points from the Omloop are finally less than half of those that have been accrued in the game altogether. Given the importance of that race, it's fairly remarkable that 18Valve, who had no more than 3 riders getting finisher points as his scorers in that one, is out front with a handsome lead. DJW becomes his closest chaser.

I doubt there will be enough points won in Koksijde tomorrow to change a lot, but Saturday might see pendulums in motion.

Many say that MSR is one of the least eventful races of the year: hopefully it will see some action among these numbers, even if not on the capi or the Cipressa. Should be another update tomorrow evening.

The gap from 3rd to 16th is smaller than that from 1st to third. So the battle for lower podium spot/top 5 if wide open, but are the top two already clear?

A change of leadership, Samu staking a claim to retain his title.

YAY! I am no longer being beaten by a bunch of dead Italians!
Actually only one dead Italian, although Maurice Garin was born in the Aosta valley in Italy, but I doubt the French would want to give the first Tour de France win to Italy. That makes it two dead Frenchmen though, and he has a geriatric Belgian as well.

(Finally getting around to reply...)

Well, it was EiTB who referred to his team as "A bunch of dead Italians".
Anyway, didn't get to stay ahead for long, coz unfortunately, there's also that very living Dutchman (who's also French.)

Why can't Garin be both ? Human beings are complex enough to be more than one thing at once. He was born in Italy to Italian parents and held Italian citizenship for 30+ years (including and this is especially relevant here during most of his cycling career). Surely whatever arbitrary bar for being Italian people want to make up, Garin clears it easily.

Race 14 E3
A bit of a mid-season shake up, almost as many points gained in this race as in Omloop. Which was also the last time we had the whole podium selected (admittedly with a 67% overlap)

Standings

So much for my suggestion that the top two might have been clear after the last event: 18Valve was the lowest scorer, with only fivers. While DJW, who was second, was second best scorer in this, so takes the lead, and is the first to break the 1000 point barrier.

18Valve remains the top scorer without van der Poel, 100 points clear of Ingsve, the next. So it is clearly MvdP that will determine the outcome: if he has three good Sundays, then I don't see anything else happening that will prevent the teams towards the top having the top places between them.

If kilometres 10-1 yesterday have the significance that some were suggesting, then there could be a total reshaping of the table between now and 1st May.

Gent-Wevelgem tomorrow should cast some light.

Slightly annoying that Mozzato lost Trentin's wheel in the final and therefore couldn't beat him to the line.
