I don't know if that was posted before.

Who do you think is the 2nd best TT behind Spartacus?
Other possible picks would be Moerenhout, LL Sanchez, JI Gutierrez, Cadel Evans...

No contador here. Some people on here have even said that hes better than Canc. I dont agree with that but i think hes top 10 no doubt.

Martin is 2nd best and GEL 3rd for his Worlds and Olympic silvers. David Millar 4th.

2. Tony Martin
3. David Millar- had a good time trial season
4. Contador

But Big Mig remains the best time trial specialist in recent cycling history to me. Canc seems to lose a lot of -real- time trials in Grand Tours. Big Mig would never lose one.

Completely depends on the course. Over a short prologue length TT I think Eddy Boss can run anyone close, over a mid distance course, Tony Martin but there are a number of riders there or therabouts.. Longer courses any of about five riders, lumpy courses, Contador or Evans can put in pretty good times.

Completely dependant on the length and style of the course.

Tony Martin, closely followed by David Millar at 3.

Durbridge could be worth looking out for next year, he looks a very powerful rider.

Actually, i meant more of medium to long TTs. For prologues, the top 10 becomes more mixture of specialists with powerful riders or sprinters like Hushovd, Farrar or Boonen.

And sorry for not including Contador.

Canc doesnt really peak for Grand Tours. He focuses on early classics and worlds, and is on decent form form GTs usually, but its more difficult considering opponents like Menchov and Contador are peaking for them.

Nonetheless he won 2 of 3 itts he did this year, podiuming the other and won 3 of 4 last year, losing one by 3 seconds (little moto help for Contador ;) as well)

You're getting me wrong here I think. If Canc won more time trials in GTs I would rate him above Big Mig as well. Canc is hands down the best time trial specialist currently active- bar none. Wasn't this year his first long time trial win in the Tour?

And one can argue Menchov would've won this year's time trial at the Tour if the weather didn't change. So who cares if Contador got some help of the moto :) That's a time trial for ya.

Indurain was very very good and won his TT's very easily but Martin, Millar are capable of riding 49/50kph over long periods so are very strong riders, Cancellara is untouchable when he's on it.

Canc doesn't lose long TT's as there are no real 'long' TT's any more... The TT's in Big Migs era were often 60km+ I'd like to see some more of those now

And I'd go for Tony Martin

didn't the giro 2009 had a really long ITT?

at least on pro cycling manager it is 63k long and the routes seem the same as the real ones.
It did indeed. It was quite hilly though, and if I remember correctly Fabian Cancellara excited the race just before the TT, as he felt it was "crazy hard".

yep. It was a Giro time trial pure and simple. 60k, tt bikes not used because it was to hilly and Canhcellara said screw it before the stage.

Everyone was only talking about this TT for weeks. I was happy when it was finally over.

But it was great anyway. More of them !

It's obviously Martin, the first two are really easy and stand out for consistently getting results at any time on any course.

The others are more or less inconsistent, some are bad in the final week of a GT, some don't like the hills or a vicious headwind.

The thing with Contador (and Menchov) is most of his best performances come in the middle of a GT, and it's hard to compare in some cases because the GC riders will always have better recovery than the TT specialists.

So...

Cancellara
Martin
Millar
Contador
G. E. Larsson
RICHIE PORTE.
