The thing with Contador (and Menchov) is most of his best performances come in the middle of a GT, and it's hard to compare in some cases because the GC riders will always have better recovery than the TT specialists.

Disagree. Contador came 2nd in Paris Nice tt, won 1 in Castille and Leon or Andalucia ( i think) and won 1 in Dauphine. Both Dauphine and Paris Nice were first stage of a stage race.

Contador also came 6th in this years tdf prologue and 2nd in stage 1 tt last year. And he came 4th in the week 1 tt at the vuelta he won.

And he came 4th in olympic tt.

So Contador certainatly doesnt only perform in mid gt tts. Hes an all round tt specialist (though prefers short hilly ones)

That (101km itt) will probably be the Alpe d huez stage ;)

Nope. It's actually a circuit TT starting at the base of the zoncolan:
climb, descend, repeat until 100 kms is complete.

I never said he "doesn't only perform in GT TTs" I said "most of his best performances", he has many bread and butter wins in smaller TTs but I do not rate these as equal with GT or Worlds distance performances.

I would never put him ahead of Martin based on this year. Millar had a good season and has done just as much as Contador in the last two years. I would say winning in Annecy is worth many smaller wins. Plus he must have been top10 in most GT TTs since 2007 (Bertie). Until Contador starts riding Worlds it is impossible to accurately compare him to the others.

So yeh, I fail to see how what you said disagrees with my ranking of him, even if our approach may be different.
