So, can we handicap the odds of other people getting popped?

From the scant rumours I've seen, Ballan was the one they had the most on (wiretaps, etc), and from the additional news that CONI has recommended bans for Nigrelli and Bonazzi as well, it sounds to me like the CONI investigation might be closed. So, if Cunego or Mazzo or whoever is going to get busted, it'll be in the court case, or perhaps CONI would open a new case based on what comes out in court. But I'd imagine if they got the dirt on Ballan they'd get the dirt on everyone, right?

Anyway, I think possibly criminal charges will come down (although I have little faith), but no more bans.

I dont believe he has proven himself as a contender since his crash. I dont think this hurts BMC's classics effort much at all.

He has hardly raced since his crash. A podium at Flanders and Roubaix in 2012 indicate he still had something to offer. His problem has always been that he can't sprint which makes classics much harder to win unless you are Cancellara of course and Cancellara can sprint just not with the best sprinters.

Didn't Ballan co-operate with the authorities? He can sign wherever he likes if that's the case

However, as an exception to the rule of not hiring a rider sanctioned as described above, the MPCC teams
will hire any rider who has confessed and / or worked with the national or international federation
services and / or courts of his national federation. Such confessions or collaboration must occur within 72
hours of either the notification or the positive test result, or within 72 hours of the court hearing.

But do you think he did so within 3 days? I doubt it.
