Nice sprint by Bennett. It was all a bit messy and he got shoulder bounced by Richeze, but he showed a bit of wit in surfing wheels and a lot of speed in coming past Hodeg. He’s likely to be squeezed between Sagan and German hope Ackermann in terms of race calendar this year, so it’s good that he’s started out winning. It seems odd to say about a sprinter who won three Giro stages last year, but he needs to keep himself in the shop window.

Also a nice start to the season by Bora. Three riders with wins already.

Sagan can't and won't win everything, so Bennett will get his chance.

Yes he will get chances at lesser classics and if he's in-form and gets lucky he could top 10 at the bigger classics - Bennett has the characteristics to ride the classics well.

Yes he will get chances at lesser classics and if he's in-form and gets lucky he could top 10 at the bigger classics - Bennett has the characteristics to ride the classics well.

He also has some characteristics which may hamper him in the classics. If his horrible positioning in the sprints means he'll struggle with the positioning before cobbled stretches and 'hellingen', he has a problem.
